2017-05-04 07:33:11 GMT <depo> what could be other issues?

2017-05-04 08:52:05 GMT <mtsiak> hi all

2017-05-04 08:54:16 GMT <mtsiak> i have been trying for using Eclipse JSDT for debuging js script inside webscripts

2017-05-04 08:54:22 GMT <mtsiak> http://axel-faust.de/?p=47&lang=en

2017-05-04 08:54:24 GMT <alfbot> Title: Debugging Alfresco #1 – Eclipse JavaScript Debugger and Alfresco Repository | Under the (Content-)Hood (at axel-faust.de)

2017-05-04 08:54:37 GMT <mtsiak> alex wrote an article.

2017-05-04 08:55:28 GMT <mtsiak> I have 2 sdk projects in eclipse (one repo, one share)

2017-05-04 08:56:08 GMT <mtsiak> in the repo i have included the RemoteJSDebugInitiator class

2017-05-04 08:56:42 GMT <mtsiak> and i can connect the rhino debugger on 8000

2017-05-04 08:57:57 GMT <mtsiak> in the share, i have added to the project the D:\git\alfresco-sdk-archetypes\share-users-catalog-dashlet\target\share-users-catalog-dashlet\config\alfresco\web-extension\site-webscripts\org\alfresco\components\dashlet as source

2017-05-04 08:58:25 GMT <mtsiak> but from the eclipse, i cannot set breakpoints

2017-05-04 08:58:51 GMT <mtsiak> to my file, eg. catalog.get.js

2017-05-04 08:59:26 GMT <mtsiak> I also tryed to add debugger; line, but nothing happens

2017-05-04 09:00:24 GMT <mtsiak> In the eclipse i can only seen RhinoRequest... RhinoResponse.. lines.

2017-05-04 09:00:57 GMT <mtsiak> Any ideas?

2017-05-04 09:14:57 GMT <AFaust> mtsiak: I sometimes forget that this old blog entry still shows up at the top of Google results...

2017-05-04 09:15:41 GMT <mtsiak> :)

2017-05-04 09:16:26 GMT <AFaust> The problem with the Eclipse JavaScript debugger is (similar to the embedded Rhino debugger) that you often cannot set a breakpoint in advance due to how the debugger matches your workspace code to the runtime scripts.

2017-05-04 09:17:55 GMT <AFaust> And as far as I am aware this tooling has not improved at all in the latest Eclipse releases. JavaScript remote debugging seems quite low on the priority list. Eclipse still does not include a proper debugging support for the new script engine Nashorn, which should be way easier to handle since it is integrated better into the JVM..

2017-05-04 09:19:27 GMT <mtsiak> the idea is to be able to test our javascript code included in webscripts and workflows.

2017-05-04 09:20:39 GMT <mtsiak> we use js-console, but we always stack what the objects returned contain.

2017-05-04 09:21:15 GMT <mtsiak> and then i found your post

2017-05-04 09:22:06 GMT <mtsiak> anyway. is there any alternative way for testing our alfresco js code?

2017-05-04 09:22:27 GMT <AFaust> mtsiak: I have a personal fork of the js-console where I have been working on a better suggestion / type-ahead support to expose more details about the objects returned from certain operations. But in general it will be impossible to get full coverage based on the JavaScript peculiarities...

2017-05-04 09:23:33 GMT <mtsiak> ok. thanks. Will try that.

2017-05-04 09:23:39 GMT <AFaust> In my opinion "testing" and "debugging" are two completely separate use cases. I would never want to use a debugger for "testing"...

2017-05-04 09:24:11 GMT <fwu> hi all!

2017-05-04 09:24:45 GMT <AFaust> I personally would likely use a Maven project with Arquillian to execute my workflows (incl. scripts) via JUnit as part of integration tests

2017-05-04 09:25:52 GMT <mtsiak> and for webscripts ?

2017-05-04 09:27:50 GMT <mtsiak> should follow this: http://axel-faust.de/?p=95&lang=en ?

2017-05-04 09:27:51 GMT <alfbot> Title: Alfresco and Arquillian #1 – “Managed Tomcat” | Under the (Content-)Hood (at axel-faust.de)

2017-05-04 09:44:12 GMT <AFaust> mtsiak: That is also a quite old post - as you can see I have not updated any of them in the recent past (no time).

2017-05-04 09:44:32 GMT <AFaust> But I do have my own Maven base setup that already includes Arquillian as an Open Source project on GitHub

2017-05-04 09:44:49 GMT <AFaust> https://github.com/Acosix/alfresco-maven

2017-05-04 09:44:50 GMT <alfbot> Title: GitHub - Acosix/alfresco-maven: Base Maven setup of parent POM, common definitions and plugins for building Alfresco modules without Alfresco SDK (except for a single plugin mojo) (at github.com)

2017-05-04 09:45:24 GMT <AFaust> https://github.com/Acosix/alfresco-mt-support is one project that already uses Arquillian for integration tests

2017-05-04 09:45:25 GMT <alfbot> Title: GitHub - Acosix/alfresco-mt-support: Adding missing multi-tenancy support for various subsystems and features (at github.com)

2017-05-04 09:51:19 GMT <fwu> ppl, anyone knows about a java library we can use to mege data in word templates? I need to merge data in word templates from workflows events.

2017-05-04 09:53:39 GMT <AFaust> fwu: What is "mege data"?

2017-05-04 09:53:51 GMT <fwu> merge

2017-05-04 09:53:59 GMT <fwu> populate word fields

2017-05-04 09:54:09 GMT <AFaust> Yeah - but what kind of structure / format would you expect "merge data" to be in?

2017-05-04 09:54:30 GMT <mtsiak> ok afaust, will try with your suggested projects. thanks again.

2017-05-04 09:54:52 GMT <AFaust> AFAIK there is no standard for describing "merge data" that would apply to Word documents and for that reason there will be no Java library that has any kind of support for a standardized merge operation

2017-05-04 09:55:17 GMT <fwu> AFaust, i will send some workflow data to a java function, and then set that data in a word document

2017-05-04 09:55:33 GMT <fwu> inside Word, I will have data fields

2017-05-04 09:55:42 GMT <AFaust> I have customers who have built custom document generation (using templates) with DOCX4J

2017-05-04 09:56:29 GMT <AFaust> But be prepared to do some very low-level Java programming and dealing with classpath issues due to conflicts between (obsolete/old) libraries that Alfresco ships and their newer versions (as required by DOCX4J)

2017-05-04 09:57:20 GMT <AFaust> An Alfresco Sales guy might say: Hey, Alfresco Activiti (Process Services) already includes document generation as part of its functionality, why not "buy this"?

2017-05-04 10:00:56 GMT <fwu> AFaust, I know that one approach wouls also be to convert Word to PDf, but I need to stay with Word.

2017-05-04 10:01:26 GMT <fwu> I also know that there are different approaches to accomplish this inside Word, like data fiels and bookmarks.

2017-05-04 10:01:54 GMT <fwu> If Im not worng in a opentext solution we used the properties of a Worddocument

2017-05-04 10:01:58 GMT <fwu> something like this

2017-05-04 10:02:05 GMT <fwu> I need to search this old project

2017-05-04 10:17:31 GMT <fwu> AFaust, maybe using docx4j may be not so problematic if I use Word properties. I thing docx4j can get the properties of Word without the need to open the whole document...

2017-05-04 10:18:06 GMT <fwu> instead of using mergefields

2017-05-04 10:19:53 GMT <fwu> and maybe the old libraries of Alfresco may be usefull

2017-05-04 10:20:14 GMT <fwu> how can I see the version Alfresco uses?

2017-05-04 10:23:04 GMT <AFaust> Alfresco does not use docx4j by default - you would have to add that library (and its dependencies) as part of a customisation

2017-05-04 10:23:19 GMT <AFaust> And in terms of seeing which version of libraries Alfresco uses - simply look in the WEB-INF/lib folder

2017-05-04 10:30:15 GMT <fwu> AFaust, I may add docx4j to the lib folder or in my repo project, right? But to try to avoid conflits, adding to the repo project may be better or will have the same result?

2017-05-04 12:42:40 GMT <douglascrp> morning everyone

2017-05-04 12:52:39 GMT <DarkStar1> douglascrp: o/ Need a quick chat

2017-05-04 13:04:55 GMT <rootinshell> Hi, i would like to create a popup notice alert in alfresco share, could someone please tell how can i proceed ?

2017-05-04 13:06:12 GMT <angelborroy> rootinshell probably you can take https://github.com/jpotts/share-announcements as sample

2017-05-04 13:06:14 GMT <alfbot> Title: GitHub - jpotts/share-announcements: Alfresco add-on that allows system announcements to be managed in the Data Dictionary and displayed on the login page. (at github.com)

2017-05-04 13:06:38 GMT <angelborroy> it’s not a popup, but you can adapt it to your requirements

2017-05-04 13:06:57 GMT <rootinshell> angelborroy: i'll take a look into it, many thanks :)

2017-05-04 13:12:27 GMT <danric> hi guys. Someone knows if it is possible to migrate the repository from alfresco CE 4.2.f to 5.2.f directly?

2017-05-04 13:12:46 GMT <douglascrp> danric, no, you can't (or shouldn't)

2017-05-04 13:13:14 GMT <douglascrp> the right thing to do is to follow the required steps, that are migrate to each latest version for each branch

2017-05-04 13:13:36 GMT <douglascrp> in your case, 5.0.d, 5.1.x (not sure about the letter) and then 5.2

2017-05-04 13:15:27 GMT <angelborroy> douglascrp depending on the complexity of the system 4.2.f > 5.0.d > 5.2.f should work

2017-05-04 13:15:58 GMT <angelborroy> danric or even 4.2.f > 5.2.f

2017-05-04 13:16:09 GMT <angelborroy> it works if you have not a many complex installation

2017-05-04 13:19:09 GMT <douglascrp> angelborroy, that why I said "shouldn't" :D

2017-05-04 13:19:22 GMT <angelborroy> only for corageus people ;-)

2017-05-04 13:19:30 GMT <douglascrp> angelborroy, yes, if you know what you are doing

2017-05-04 13:19:43 GMT <douglascrp> I never even took the risk

2017-05-04 13:19:52 GMT <douglascrp> as I always followed the rules

2017-05-04 13:20:09 GMT <angelborroy> btw I’m rendering video recording sessions for BeeCon

2017-05-04 13:20:18 GMT <angelborroy> probably they will be available next week ;-)

2017-05-04 13:20:19 GMT <douglascrp> even more because usually it is just a matter of replacing the alfresco.war file, firing up the system, waiting, and repeat

2017-05-04 13:20:29 GMT <douglascrp> angelborroy, wow... amazing

2017-05-04 13:20:42 GMT <mbui> rootinshell: This might be an alternative to what you're looking for: https://github.com/Redpill-Linpro/alfresco-systemmessages

2017-05-04 13:20:43 GMT <alfbot> Title: GitHub - Redpill-Linpro/alfresco-systemmessages (at github.com)

2017-05-04 13:20:58 GMT <douglascrp> I was already reading some of the slides, but just text sometimes is not enough to understand the ideas

2017-05-04 13:22:25 GMT <angelborroy> douglascrp probably my Mac will die after this week

2017-05-04 13:22:36 GMT <douglascrp> LOL

2017-05-04 13:22:37 GMT <angelborroy> douglascrp vent is blowing 100% all the day :)

2017-05-04 13:22:42 GMT <douglascrp> no, it wont

2017-05-04 13:22:49 GMT <douglascrp> these machines are good

2017-05-04 13:40:43 GMT <rootinshell> mbui: you are my hero !!!!

2017-05-04 13:41:01 GMT <rootinshell> i'll check if this work with a 5.2

2017-05-04 13:54:53 GMT <lufana> Hi, I am using alfresco 5.2 e trying to change the document created date but unable to change the created date only modified date could be changed. please help.

2017-05-04 14:01:29 GMT <angelborroy> lufana you cannot change some properties

2017-05-04 14:01:34 GMT <angelborroy> like created date

2017-05-04 14:01:40 GMT <angelborroy> it’s supposed to be immutable

2017-05-04 14:03:22 GMT <lufana> @angleborroy :yes but some articles i found it is possible through disabling auditable aspect

2017-05-04 14:03:35 GMT <angelborroy> probably

2017-05-04 14:03:38 GMT <douglascrp> lufana, angelborroy I was going to say that

2017-05-04 14:03:52 GMT <douglascrp> there is a forum thread where AFaust gave the details

2017-05-04 14:03:56 GMT <douglascrp> let me see if I can find the link

2017-05-04 14:04:32 GMT <AFaust> You can set these properties if you disable the behaviours for the cm:auditable aspect

2017-05-04 14:04:43 GMT <AFaust> Otherwise Alfresco will override any input you provide

2017-05-04 14:11:47 GMT <Modestas> you never wrote back to me that you did get it

2017-05-04 14:11:53 GMT <AFaust> yes - already accepted

2017-05-04 14:12:13 GMT <lufana> @AFaust: can you please help how to disable the behaviour for the aspect QName cm:auditable via the policy behaviour filter bean

2017-05-04 16:05:32 GMT <rootinshell> could someone please explain to me this part : The build produces several jar files. Attach them to your own maven project using dependencies or put them under tomcat/shared/lib.

2017-05-04 16:06:17 GMT <rootinshell> when i put the jar file into tomcat/shared/lib accessing me share return error 404

2017-05-04 16:07:11 GMT <rootinshell> this is related to https://github.com/Redpill-Linpro/alfresco-systemmessages, i'm using alfresco 5.2

2017-05-04 16:53:01 GMT <danric> Someone has tested the add-on share-site-creator (https://github.com/jpotts/share-site-creators) on Alfresco 5.2 CE ? Is it compatible?
