2017-06-12 07:32:01 GMT <yreg> monica you should refer to the docs : http://docs.alfresco.com/5.1/concepts/imap-intro.html
2017-06-12 07:32:02 GMT <alfbot> Title: Configuring the email client with IMAP | Alfresco Documentation (at docs.alfresco.com)
2017-06-12 07:32:17 GMT <yreg> to know more about the alfresco imap subsystem
2017-06-12 07:35:15 GMT <monica> thank you Yreg
2017-06-12 07:36:01 GMT <monica> I wanted to know, why these folders are there under My Files tab. what is the user of all these folder.
2017-06-12 08:04:44 GMT <Loftux> monica: You see them under My files when you are logged in as admin, this user has the root folder "Company Home" as its user home folder. No other user will see this folder structure under "My Files"
2017-06-12 08:12:41 GMT <twen> good morning !
2017-06-12 09:00:12 GMT *** angelborroy_ is now known as angelborroy
2017-06-12 09:35:06 GMT <fwu> hi all!
2017-06-12 10:54:52 GMT <fwu> ppl, where are the lucene index files in alfresco 4.2.f?
2017-06-12 10:54:59 GMT <fwu> im trying to use luke
2017-06-12 10:55:23 GMT <fwu> 4.2.f uses lucene, right?
2017-06-12 11:08:04 GMT <angelborroy> 4.2.f is using SOLR by default
2017-06-12 11:08:25 GMT <yreg> fwu, it's either lucene or solr 1.4
2017-06-12 11:08:28 GMT <angelborroy> fwu you can look at alfresco-global.properties to find out which indexes are you using
2017-06-12 11:14:32 GMT <fwu> angelborroy, yreg, thank you. I believe Im using a wrong luke version...
2017-06-12 11:14:44 GMT <fwu> i need to use an older one
2017-06-12 11:43:37 GMT <MorganP> You don't need to, you can just force Alfresco to use Lucene
2017-06-12 11:44:20 GMT <MorganP> in 4.2, it defaults to SolR as said by angel but you can change it back to lucene if you want to do some tests, aso.
2017-06-12 12:27:19 GMT <alfbot> resplin: Sent 2 days, 22 hours, and 8 minutes ago: <AxelFaust> Wow - I had not realized that ALF-21855 had been marked as won't fix. That means that all the work that Dave had invested into making the Site dialog extensible was for nought as you can't really use it for non-trivial customisations...
2017-06-12 12:47:48 GMT <osaidi> is it possible to implement your own login webscript? i'm trying to extend AbstractLoginBean but its visibility is restricted to its package
2017-06-12 13:47:21 GMT <fwu> AFaust, thank you for your comments about using large files in Alfresco.
2017-06-12 13:47:31 GMT <fwu> I still have some concerns about it....
2017-06-12 13:48:10 GMT <fwu> for isntance, im trying to upload a 600mb pdf. it uploads fast in my localhost. But when Im previewing it, my laptop hangs alot!
2017-06-12 13:48:38 GMT <fwu> shouldnt previwe be smarter? For instance it should only get the first page of the PDF or something like that...
2017-06-12 13:49:51 GMT <fwu> I will need to understand why the customer needs a 600mb PDF files... Even if we open the PDF in a local folder it doenst works very well inside Adobe reader.
2017-06-12 13:50:28 GMT <fwu> so, if we need to get it from a repository server somewhere on the network, it will be worse for sure
2017-06-12 13:56:44 GMT <AFaust> fwu: "Shouldn't previews be smarter?" - well, only as smart as they have been implemented. The PDF previewer is pretty straight-forward: Show the PDF. Also, PDFs may not be optimised for streaming delivery, meaning that the entire PDF needs to be downloaded just to show the first page.
2017-06-12 13:57:34 GMT <AFaust> You could technically implement a transformation that strips out the first X pages of a PDF and use that rendition to show in the previewer instead of the original file.
2017-06-12 14:14:25 GMT <yreg> fwu, I have seen PDF files without any optimization (HD images in BMP format) taking hundreds of megs, and just compressing the PDF did make a difference (If I remember right, we used JBIG2 for optimal results)
2017-06-12 14:19:35 GMT <fwu> yreg, you are right about it. Still almost sure I will have big pdf, and the previewer may be a problem.
2017-06-12 14:20:42 GMT <fwu> when I talk about Alfresco capacity to handle large files, Im concerning about all the features of Alfresco. I cant have a good uploader and then a previwer that crashes everything :(
2017-06-12 14:20:59 GMT <fwu> so, I need to know about this in order to change it
2017-06-12 14:21:10 GMT <fwu> that is why Im talking with you guys!
2017-06-12 14:21:30 GMT <fwu> I may and will forget sonthing
2017-06-12 14:21:33 GMT <fwu> something~
2017-06-12 14:22:01 GMT <fwu> i think that for these files a one page preview should be sufficient.
2017-06-12 14:22:16 GMT <fwu> or none at all, but not to hang the entier system :)
2017-06-12 14:24:39 GMT <fwu> Im also thinking about the possiblity of working with N files and shoe them as one to the user. Does someone as seen something like this?
2017-06-12 14:24:46 GMT <fwu> show
2017-06-12 14:24:57 GMT <fwu> not shoe arghh :)
2017-06-12 14:26:44 GMT <fwu> another concern I have is related with full text search/indexing. Is it possible to disable it regarding the file size of a document?
2017-06-12 14:38:51 GMT <mbui> Is it possible to check if the current user is an admin user from the share client?
2017-06-12 14:39:35 GMT <AFaust> fwu: Indexing cannot be disabled based on size, but it can be limited. Both on the Repository-tier (by configuring transformation limits) and on the SOLR tier (how much of the full text is actually indexed)
2017-06-12 14:40:37 GMT <AFaust> For a customer I once did a PoC where PPTX files were split into individual slides, user could configure a slide deck by references to indiviidual slide files and show a dynamically built aggregated slide deck as the preview.
2017-06-12 15:27:55 GMT <fwu> Afuast, thank you for the idea. I will also look to those transformation limits!
