Daily Log for #alfresco

2017-08-10 08:10:31 GMT <apus> hi, i'm still on 5.1 community edition. looking at the release notes for 201707 GA release it states that it both will be the last GA built off Content Services 5.2 and not contain the fixes provided by Alfresco Content Services 5.2.2 service pack scheduled for release in October 2017. will there be a "final" GA release that includes this service pack or is this GA release truly the latest which i should then move to from 5.1 ?

2017-08-10 08:15:45 GMT <jebla> Hi, I need to work around the multilingual feature of Alfresco and consolidate title and description fields in one locale. My plan is to create a custom localeResolver that issue a call to I18NUtil.setContentLocale with a specific locale. Anybody got any experiences with that or perhaps a better way to do it?

2017-08-10 08:37:24 GMT <Loftux> apus: There will always be something better. Grass is always greener on the other side :) I don't think you will get a definitive answer, so you would have to evaluate if the 201707 release meets your requirements and if it adds to your needs.

2017-08-10 08:41:10 GMT <apus> Loftux: Of course there will always be something better and newer. Some bugs may only be fixed at some point in 5.3 or even later. I was just trying to figure whether this will be the last release of 5.2, so i can plan to migrate to that version to get the additional fixes between 5.1 and 5.2

2017-08-10 08:46:16 GMT <Loftux> apus: I would say you can. If there are any more release they will just contain small fixes. If you then have to update to a later version, it is a small upgrade

2017-08-10 08:48:34 GMT <Loftux> apus: Have to minor issues that will be fixed as part of our build 201707 https://github.com/loftuxab/share-community-loftux/issues

2017-08-10 08:48:35 GMT <alfbot> Title: Issues · loftuxab/share-community-loftux · GitHub (at github.com)

2017-08-10 08:57:22 GMT <apus> Loftux: thank you for your help! then i'll start on the upgrade in the coming days.

2017-08-10 12:24:13 GMT <fwu> hi all!

2017-08-10 12:24:46 GMT <xai> Saved search on the dashboard of Alfresco share returns no rows. Search query is: ASPECT:"cxme:expirable". And there is a document with such aspect. Why the result is empty?

2017-08-10 12:24:55 GMT <xai> And hello :)

2017-08-10 12:30:06 GMT <xai> Even if I enter "*" as the search query, then there's no required document (but another documents appears).

2017-08-10 12:31:26 GMT <yreg> xai, check if solr tracking is working

2017-08-10 12:32:52 GMT <yreg> xai, and that the document in question is not excluded from index via that cm:isIndexed field

2017-08-10 12:33:33 GMT * xai is trying to find out how to check SOLR status

2017-08-10 12:34:09 GMT <yreg> solr logs

2017-08-10 12:34:51 GMT <xai> According to logs, SOLR seems to be running. He doesn't like some of my search queries, but it works.

2017-08-10 12:35:48 GMT <yreg> did you create the document/added the aspect then directly queried for it ?

2017-08-10 12:35:56 GMT <xai> Yes.

2017-08-10 12:36:00 GMT <yreg> what is solr tracking frequency ?

2017-08-10 12:36:01 GMT <xai> There's no "

2017-08-10 12:36:03 GMT <xai> There's no "cm:isIndexed" field

2017-08-10 12:37:07 GMT <yreg> by default solr takes up to 15 seconds to catch up with indexing the repository (or starting to catch up on least) and in some extreme cases can lag minutes or hours behind

2017-08-10 12:37:19 GMT <yreg> can you re-do the query ?

2017-08-10 12:37:23 GMT <xai> I created to document few days ago

2017-08-10 12:37:51 GMT <xai> Re-done. No document.

2017-08-10 12:38:15 GMT <yreg> out of idea

2017-08-10 12:38:17 GMT <yreg> s

2017-08-10 12:38:23 GMT <yreg> you're on your own

2017-08-10 12:38:27 GMT <xai> Ok, thanks)

2017-08-10 12:39:20 GMT <xai> Seems, it shows files/dirs only from "My files> Sites> swsdp> documentLibrary" on query "*"

2017-08-10 12:41:50 GMT <_danric> Hi all guys. I have some problem with the last searchservices with solr6: I can't make it logging on file solr.log.

2017-08-10 12:42:18 GMT <_danric> I am on windows environement. Someone know about some problem with log4j ?

2017-08-10 12:46:16 GMT <angelborroy> _danric Alfresco uses default SOLR 6 packaging

2017-08-10 12:46:23 GMT <angelborroy> _danric did you try this https://lucene.apache.org/solr/guide/6_6/configuring-logging.html?

2017-08-10 12:46:24 GMT <alfbot> Title: Configuring Logging | Apache Solr Reference Guide 6.6 (at lucene.apache.org)

2017-08-10 12:49:59 GMT <xai> Really, it finds documents _only_ from "My files> Sites> swsdp> documentLibrary" on any query.

2017-08-10 12:50:37 GMT <angelborroy> xai which is your problem?

2017-08-10 12:51:49 GMT <xai> angelborroy: I'm trying to setup a dashlet on my dashboard to show expired documents from all my files in alfresco. But on any search query (even on "*") I cannot see required file.

2017-08-10 12:53:32 GMT <xai> * through/amoung all my files

2017-08-10 12:54:00 GMT <angelborroy> Which dashlet? Site Search?

2017-08-10 12:54:09 GMT <angelborroy> or Saved Search?

2017-08-10 12:54:18 GMT <xai> It shows this document in "Recently changed", but doesn't show in "Saved Search".

2017-08-10 12:54:36 GMT <angelborroy> so, it’s Saved Search

2017-08-10 12:56:19 GMT <angelborroy> xai probably you are not using it propertly

2017-08-10 12:56:41 GMT <angelborroy> API REST invocation is

2017-08-10 12:56:42 GMT <angelborroy> http://localhost:8080/share/proxy/alfresco/slingshot/search?term=alfresco&maxResults=10&rootNode=alfresco%3A%2F%2Fcompany%2Fhome

2017-08-10 12:58:50 GMT <xai> angelborroy> xai probably you are not using it propertly -- it looks like me)

2017-08-10 12:59:11 GMT <angelborroy> xai take a look at http://localhost:8080/alfresco/s/script/org/alfresco/slingshot/search/search.get

2017-08-10 12:59:18 GMT <angelborroy> this is the service you are invoking

2017-08-10 12:59:50 GMT <xai> Seems, I need to switch rootNode

2017-08-10 12:59:59 GMT <xai> somehow

2017-08-10 13:00:09 GMT <angelborroy> whichi is your “rootNode”?

2017-08-10 13:00:28 GMT <xai> It shows me files from "My files> Sites> swsdp> documentLibrary"

2017-08-10 13:00:37 GMT <angelborroy> I’m using default dashlet and inspecting Network with the browser

2017-08-10 13:00:57 GMT <angelborroy> this is how I guess that background API REST invocation was that one

2017-08-10 13:05:23 GMT <xai> Seem the question transformed to: When I use SearchService I can enter where to asearch, for example "StoreRef.STORE_REF_WORKSPACE_SPACESSTORE"; how to enter the same thing to the Saved Search in the dashboard?

2017-08-10 13:05:30 GMT <MorganP> By default the Saved Search, wherever you are (even on your user dashboard) will search only on sites

2017-08-10 13:06:01 GMT <xai> MorganP: Can this be changed somehow?

2017-08-10 13:06:46 GMT <MorganP> This dashlet is designed for sites primarily

2017-08-10 13:06:57 GMT <MorganP> so I wouldn't update this one in particular

2017-08-10 13:07:31 GMT <xai> So, there's no way to add a dashlet that searches outside of sites?

2017-08-10 13:08:01 GMT <angelborroy> Right, only search for sites: https://github.com/Alfresco/share/blob/master/share-services/src/main/resources/alfresco/templates/webscripts/org/alfresco/slingshot/search/search.lib.js#L1165

2017-08-10 13:08:02 GMT <alfbot> Title: share/search.lib.js at master · Alfresco/share · GitHub (at github.com)

2017-08-10 13:08:34 GMT <xai> I see, thanks :)

2017-08-10 13:09:10 GMT <angelborroy> but there is an “if” before that looks promising

2017-08-10 13:09:25 GMT <angelborroy> https://github.com/Alfresco/share/blob/master/share-services/src/main/resources/alfresco/templates/webscripts/org/alfresco/slingshot/search/search.lib.js#L1136

2017-08-10 13:09:26 GMT <alfbot> Title: share/search.lib.js at master · Alfresco/share · GitHub (at github.com)

2017-08-10 13:09:31 GMT <MorganP> You can always do what you want xai

2017-08-10 13:09:38 GMT <MorganP> But I wouldn't touch this dashlet

2017-08-10 13:09:46 GMT <MorganP> because it will probably be used later somehow

2017-08-10 13:09:55 GMT <MorganP> However you can just create a new one for example

2017-08-10 13:10:53 GMT <angelborroy> xai ok, there is a “repo” parameter

2017-08-10 13:11:04 GMT <angelborroy> which is not informed by this dashlet

2017-08-10 13:11:22 GMT <angelborroy> URL: /slingshot/search?term={term?}&tag={tag?}&site={site?}&container={container?}&sort={sort?}&query={query?}&repo={repo?}

2017-08-10 13:11:35 GMT <angelborroy> so you can duplicate the dashlet and include that “repo” parameter

2017-08-10 13:12:02 GMT <MorganP> yep just like searches use the sites by default but you can add the repo if neede

2017-08-10 13:12:03 GMT <MorganP> dd

2017-08-10 13:12:29 GMT <xai> Ok. Thanks, again. I'll try to make a new dashlet then)

2017-08-10 13:16:42 GMT <angelborroy> xai this will be helpful to identify where the dashboard source code is

2017-08-10 13:28:43 GMT <xai> ok

2017-08-10 16:03:34 GMT <resplin> I'll look it over after this meeting.

2017-08-10 16:05:04 GMT <fcorti> we are in a call...

2017-08-10 16:14:35 GMT <yreg> I think this is the first time we have a community edition X.Y.h

2017-08-10 16:19:09 GMT <resplin> yreg: What do you mean?

2017-08-10 16:21:54 GMT <yreg> resplin, going through release notes (by the way links for 201707 is not there, there is a mension of 201706 instead with a link to 201704

2017-08-10 16:22:12 GMT <yreg> I noticed that we had 8 iterations for CE 5.2

2017-08-10 16:22:47 GMT <resplin> Oh, the first time we got to an "h". Yup. Interesting.

2017-08-10 16:23:17 GMT <resplin> Jive does not change the URL when the title changes.

2017-08-10 16:23:24 GMT <yreg> Which is IMHO great as it shows engagement on alfresco part to polish their CE and go over and over with more iterations producing GA releases that are more robust

2017-08-10 16:24:34 GMT <yreg> resplin, as long as you do not fiddle with the numbers in the URL, the rest is irrelevant ;-)

2017-08-10 16:25:20 GMT <resplin> We put up a page when we first start release planning. We are trying to be transparent. But sometimes the release changes to the next month.

2017-08-10 17:17:07 GMT <resplin> douglascrp: REPO-1489 was public, but some overcautious team member made it private in mid-June.

2017-08-10 17:17:08 GMT <resplin> sigh

2017-08-10 17:17:20 GMT <douglascrp> resplin, hmmm

2017-08-10 17:17:35 GMT <douglascrp> resplin, is it public now?

2017-08-10 17:17:59 GMT <douglascrp> nope... it is not

2017-08-10 17:18:05 GMT <douglascrp> I have just tried to access it

2017-08-10 17:18:06 GMT <resplin> I'm just double checking that no one added a comment with customer info.

2017-08-10 17:18:10 GMT <resplin> Then I'll flip the switch.

2017-08-10 17:18:14 GMT <douglascrp> ok

2017-08-10 17:20:51 GMT <resplin> It should be public now.

2017-08-10 17:34:52 GMT <douglascrp> resplin, tks... it is open

2017-08-10 17:56:02 GMT <ghlco> Hello folks, Does anyone know of any implementations where dotCMS and Alfresco are used together?

2017-08-10 17:56:32 GMT <resplin> Yes.

2017-08-10 17:57:17 GMT <resplin> ghlco: dotCMIS is the older library. The newer one is PortCMIS.

2017-08-10 17:59:11 GMT <resplin> Oh, you wrote dotCMS. That's different. I'm not familiar with that one.

2017-08-10 18:01:22 GMT <resplin> Reading on the net, dotCMS is a fork of Liferay?

2017-08-10 18:01:34 GMT <resplin> Really bad branding to use dot___ for a Java product.

2017-08-10 18:01:44 GMT <resplin> I bet it confuses everyone.

2017-08-10 18:02:08 GMT <ghlco> yes dotCMS the WCM, and wow I did not realize it was forked from Liferay

2017-08-10 18:02:48 GMT <resplin> That was stated by one of our sales team members, but I don't see proof of that on the net.

2017-08-10 18:03:06 GMT <resplin> I would investigate whether they have an equivalent of the Liferay CMIS portlet.

2017-08-10 18:03:16 GMT <ghlco> found a chapter - http://learndotcms.com/files/chapter-1-preview.pdf where they say when it was forked

2017-08-10 18:03:37 GMT <resplin> It sounds like not much of Liferay is left.

2017-08-10 18:05:51 GMT <ghlco> yup. thanks richard for looking and responding! I very much appreciate it! I'll do some more digging

2017-08-10 18:05:58 GMT <resplin> cheers
