2018-03-21 08:36:52 GMT <resplin> digcatt: Thank you for the kind wishes. My kids are excited for me to travel less.

2018-03-21 08:55:16 GMT <Tichodroma> I have a problem getting the people inside each tenant from a Java web script executed by the *default* tenant admin. See https://stackoverflow.com/q/49401829/9455968 for details.

2018-03-21 09:27:44 GMT <digcatt> ~later tell resplin, is there a chance of integrating your new mobs offering into alfresco community?

2018-03-21 09:27:44 GMT <alfbot> digcatt: The operation succeeded.

2018-03-21 12:00:06 GMT <david_____> in alfresco community 4.2 we have some shared documents that return an error: key does not exist, and therefore cannot be retrieved nor unshared

2018-03-21 12:37:22 GMT <fwu> hi all

2018-03-21 12:37:40 GMT <fwu> hi-ko, thank you for the help other day about ldap.

2018-03-21 14:57:36 GMT <twen> re

2018-03-21 15:56:50 GMT <soop> anyone around? I'm hoping to find some real world examples of alfresco in action ... I've been scouring youtube and 99% are boring text based presentations, or very shitty quality videos in general. I'm trying to swing a user base over to the concept of Alfresco, and yah ... anything you can suggest would be a great help

2018-03-21 16:02:42 GMT <Tichodroma> soop: Alfresco is used in production by many companies. But usually they don't make their installations publicly available.

2018-03-21 16:02:53 GMT <Tichodroma> What kind of examples are you interested in?

2018-03-21 16:03:44 GMT <soop> real world, something that I can show to an end user/non-tech user saying "SEE THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T JUST USE A FOLDER ON A NETWORK"

2018-03-21 16:04:16 GMT <Tichodroma> soop: automation, filing rules, access control, metadata

2018-03-21 16:04:18 GMT <soop> right now I've got a group of companies opeating under one umbrellas consisting of trucking/logisitics/safety managemen/snow removal/property management and aintenance

2018-03-21 16:05:24 GMT <Tichodroma> You *can* use Alfresco like a shared network drive. It adds value if you start to think about metadata, where it lives, how it is edited, and how it determines the location of files in the repository.

2018-03-21 16:05:38 GMT <soop> tichodroma: exactly .... two users I'm trying to designate as champions I want to show them some "Oooooh .... Aaaaah .... Alfresco" type things ... Scanning/email workflows etc. as they have to deal with end point sub contractors emailing documentation, which they then print, deal with, scan again and then place on a network share in an archaic fashion

2018-03-21 16:05:57 GMT <Tichodroma> I've seen some Alfresco installations that are just network drives with an ugly web GUI

2018-03-21 16:06:04 GMT <soop> no doubt

2018-03-21 16:06:10 GMT <soop> "Just drag and dump"

2018-03-21 16:07:16 GMT <Tichodroma> Do you want to argue for Alfresco or do you want to implement a solution? I ask because the company I work for offers solutions based on Alfresco that deal with all these topics.

2018-03-21 16:09:31 GMT <soop> both lol ....

2018-03-21 16:09:49 GMT <Tichodroma> That will be quite some work.

2018-03-21 16:10:01 GMT <yreg> soop have you tried searching the web for "Alfresco usecase" ?

2018-03-21 16:10:45 GMT <yreg> soop, this might also be useful : https://www.alfresco.com/customers

2018-03-21 16:10:46 GMT <alfbot> Title: Customers Stories | Alfresco (at www.alfresco.com)

2018-03-21 16:11:14 GMT <soop> Well it's boiling down to me saying "Do you really want to sit someone at a scanner and then have them sit at a computer and manually process everything you just scanned piece by piece, or would you not like proper document storage, cataloging, retrieval and all the other niceities that go along with doing it right the first time"

2018-03-21 16:12:09 GMT <soop> yreg, yah i've been through that already ...

2018-03-21 16:15:48 GMT <soop> I'd liek to find something from a low level office worker perspective of how it's made things better for them

2018-03-21 16:18:44 GMT <hi-ko> soop: as Tichodroma said: we implemented all these use cases ready to use. If you don't mind that it costs money we could give you and your collegues a show:

2018-03-21 16:19:31 GMT <soop> the show costs moneyor the solution? :P

2018-03-21 16:19:59 GMT <hi-ko> soop: integration of email in-/outbound archive, capture integration, magic rules for autofiling and automated metadata integration

2018-03-21 16:20:05 GMT <hi-ko> soop: the solution ;-)

2018-03-21 16:22:02 GMT <soop> perfect lol

2018-03-21 16:22:32 GMT <soop> we're ok with spending money when needed ...

2018-03-21 16:22:36 GMT <hi-ko> soop: our idea is: user or system dumps files into alfresco and we have our own services to collect required context from user, systems, ...

2018-03-21 16:24:33 GMT <hi-ko> soop: just send me a pn with you contact details and I will call/mail you back

2018-03-21 16:24:57 GMT <hi-ko> s/pn/pm/

2018-03-21 16:25:27 GMT <soop> sending now

2018-03-21 16:27:24 GMT <soop> sending you a zip file of some data one of the groups is working with ...

2018-03-21 16:27:42 GMT <soop> I'm going to grab some lunch, I'll be back in about an hour

2018-03-21 16:36:13 GMT <mbui> How do you delete an aspect that is not defined in the data dictionary anymore?

2018-03-21 17:03:10 GMT <AFaust> mbui: You don't.... or you use direct DAO calls / direct DB manipulation

2018-03-21 21:28:10 GMT <alfbot> resplin: Sent 12 hours ago: <digcatt> there a chance of integrating your new mobs offering into alfresco community?

2018-03-21 21:36:03 GMT <resplin> digcat: There is some overlap with the work of the Governances Services Team. I'd like to see an integration. But it will be some time before I know the lay of the land.
