2018-04-16 06:33:04 GMT <yreg> Morning channel
2018-04-16 06:41:43 GMT <twen> hello
2018-04-16 07:14:18 GMT <Loftux> fcorti: chat.alfresco.com is still on esplins.org, time to move it inhouse?
2018-04-16 07:40:53 GMT <yreg> Loftux, I think there was a discussion about that a while back
2018-04-16 07:42:37 GMT <yreg> and they are reviewing few options, including moving on to a new channel (slack, gitter, ...)
2018-04-16 07:42:47 GMT <yreg> but no decision has been concluded yet
2018-04-16 07:43:00 GMT <angelborroy> ~HtmlLogger flushlog
2018-04-16 07:43:00 GMT <alfbot> angelborroy: Woooosh, your log has been flushed...
2018-04-16 07:45:47 GMT <Loftux> yreg: Until then I would say that they should take this to their own servers, after all this is now pointing to a server run by a non-alfresco employee. Not that I distrust Richard, just think it is better to run on their own servers.
2018-04-16 07:46:58 GMT <yreg> Loftux, that particular point has been discussed, and I think Richard said that it would be a good reason to keep him close to the alfresco community if he continues hosting those logs
2018-04-16 07:47:57 GMT <yreg> plus it would be a kind of contribution to the community that would (hopefully grant him voting rights within OOTBee)
2018-04-16 07:49:31 GMT <yreg> in any case, personally, I prefer sticking to IRC as it bring a lot of facilities including anonymous access, easy and fast access through the webchat.freenode.net among other things
2018-04-16 07:51:40 GMT <fcorti> Good morning Loftux and yreg. "Not in the near term" is the short answer.
2018-04-16 07:52:06 GMT <Loftux> There are plenty of other reasons to involve Richard in ootb other than hosting a service that should be Alfresco. Oh well, it is not super important to me, just wanted to remind if it had been forgotten.
2018-04-16 07:52:31 GMT <fcorti> Yreg is correct! There are some opportunities to consider but the developers here seems to like IRC more than other channels.
2018-04-16 07:52:46 GMT <fcorti> THe topic is not forgotten but we need to agree on a decision.
2018-04-16 07:53:20 GMT <fcorti> RIchard is available to keep the server but I'm happy that sooner or later we will have to take a decision.
2018-04-16 07:53:54 GMT <fcorti> Thank you for reminding the topic... I did in the past but until know no decision has been agreed.

2018-04-16 12:59:04 GMT <yreg> guys, have any of you came across a requirement for versioning metadata changes, on folders as well as documents ?
2018-04-16 13:18:00 GMT <forgiven> hello all!
2018-04-16 13:19:06 GMT <yreg> hi forgiven
2018-04-16 13:19:09 GMT <forgiven> we use community alfresco 5.0.2 and would like to upgrade to 6. I have looked over the release notes, features added/removed and do not see anything specific about upgrading
2018-04-16 13:19:29 GMT <forgiven> is it safe to upgrade from 5.0.2 to 6?
2018-04-16 13:19:46 GMT <Loftux> forgiven: It is Early relase still, go for 5.2 - 201707
2018-04-16 13:20:59 GMT <forgiven> oh yes, i see.....
2018-04-16 13:21:20 GMT <forgiven> i don't know how i got to the 6 release......
2018-04-16 13:21:26 GMT <Loftux> forgiven: Things are getting removed and internal components updated, so probably not stable for a while
2018-04-16 13:22:21 GMT <Loftux> forgiven: Always want the latest syndrom (I have that)
2018-04-16 13:23:03 GMT <forgiven> agreed. I think we might have the latest........ Is there a way to check to see what release we are using?
2018-04-16 13:23:40 GMT <forgiven> Loftux: yes but not in a production environment

2018-04-16 13:24:59 GMT <alfbot> Title: What version of Alfresco am I using? | Alfresco Documentation (at docs.alfresco.com)
2018-04-16 13:25:55 GMT <forgiven> we are using 5.1
2018-04-16 13:26:02 GMT <Loftux> On to your actual question, there usually are no exact upgrade paths for Community. A rule of thumb is to go via first and last in each release series so for you something like -> 5.1.a -> 5.1f -> 5.2.a -> 5.2.f but you can probably skip some in between or even go directly. Only way to find out is to test
2018-04-16 13:26:52 GMT <forgiven> i thought i read where a public share feature has been added?
2018-04-16 13:27:42 GMT <Loftux> forgiven: Not really, it is just sharing of a single document.
2018-04-16 13:28:20 GMT <Loftux> forgiven: But I can recommend this one https://loftux.se/en/products-and-add-ons/alfresco-add-ons/alfresco-sharebox-2
2018-04-16 13:28:22 GMT <alfbot> Title: Alfresco ShareBox | Loftux (at loftux.se)
2018-04-16 13:30:36 GMT <forgiven> yea, i would love to use that but giving alfresco is at least 50,000 USD, i'm a little scared to ask the price. What do you charge for that awesome add-on?
2018-04-16 13:43:29 GMT <Loftux> forgiven: Responded in private chat, not sure if that popped up for you. Or drop me an email firstname.lastname@example.org
