Daily Log for #alfresco

2018-08-16 06:59:21 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> Dealing with a LockAcquisitionException, have yet to receive full logs from org.alfresco.repo.lock.JobLockServiceImpl. What I did check was the alf_lock table, and it says "not-locked" for the job there. Is there anywhere else this can be held? It is for a clustered Alfresco repository instance.

2018-08-16 08:15:20 GMT <yreg> Morning folks

2018-08-16 08:17:03 GMT <AxelFaust> @Loftux: It depends on what kind of LockAcquisitionException happens. In a clustered environment, that is sort of expected. From experience, lock acquisition exceptions are often logged in a too high log level

2018-08-16 08:19:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @AxelFaust. Yeah, reminds me that I have to ask for the logs for all nodes, so that I can see if there is a similar error, but right now the job doesn't complete on nay node.

2018-08-16 08:44:22 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Sandra> Hi all! is it possible to search on document name ranges in a scheduled job? My query template looks like this: @cm:name:[00000 TO 05000] and iā€˜m not sure about the formatting.

2018-08-16 08:46:10 GMT <yreg> @Sandra AFAIK range predicates only work on date/time or numerical data types

2018-08-16 08:46:57 GMT <yreg> @Sandra, but using CMIS language query it should be possible (tried it once a while ago and it simply worked)

2018-08-16 08:59:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Sandra> Thanks yreg! I tried it in the javascript ocnsole and it worked so i was hoping that it would work in the scheduled job definition as well šŸ˜ƒ

2018-08-16 09:00:08 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Sandra> i will have a look at cmis

2018-08-16 09:04:05 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Adding more on JobLocks, releaseLockVerify and releaseLock seems to be aliases for the LockDao

2018-08-16 09:05:33 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> wondering if the alf lock table is cached for some reason

2018-08-16 09:06:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> or maybe releaseLockVerify is to be used with clustered environments

2018-08-16 09:09:25 GMT <yreg> Well if it works in JS console, it should work in scheduled jobs as well @Sandra

2018-08-16 09:09:51 GMT <yreg> I simply wasn't aware that predicate would work

2018-08-16 09:10:51 GMT <AxelFaust> yreg / @Sandra: Ranges also work on textual values using lexicographic sorting. This is how date ranges actually worked before becomming proper date fields in the index

2018-08-16 09:10:53 GMT <yreg> It is probably because you only have numeric characters there that it works...

2018-08-16 09:12:03 GMT <AxelFaust> Problem is that sorting of textual properties may be inconsistent due to differences in index/query locale (and locale-specific sort rules)

2018-08-16 09:12:17 GMT <yreg> AxelFaust / @Sandra : I don't know why, but I was assuming TMQ... hence my comments

2018-08-16 09:12:42 GMT <AxelFaust> Well, TMQ does not support ranges at all (except for your fix / enhancement in one of your customer projects)

2018-08-16 09:13:04 GMT <AxelFaust> FTS TMQ, to be specific

2018-08-16 09:13:16 GMT <yreg> indeed

2018-08-16 09:13:58 GMT <AxelFaust> With CMIS it would also work in TMQ mode, so that may be preferrable for jobs that need to be reliable

2018-08-16 09:14:27 GMT <yreg> That's probably where I got my assumption from ...

2018-08-16 09:51:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Sandra> ah ok

2018-08-16 10:22:11 GMT <fwu2018> hi all

2018-08-16 10:45:33 GMT <fwu2018> ppl, can someone tell me if it is possible to define custom elements or tags when defining a form model and a document model in Alfresco?

2018-08-16 11:20:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Anyone else have a bunch of "Thumbs.db" uploaded to the content repository? Seems as it's some windows junk getting added when people are working in CIFS.

2018-08-16 12:15:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @mbui They should get the hidden aspect when added, see <bean name="hiddenAspect" class="org.alfresco.repo.model.filefolder.HiddenAspect">

2018-08-16 12:22:15 GMT <AxelFaust> Though they still exist - which I find extremely annoying even if hidden. I'd implement a job to find and delete all Thumbs.db every night (using temporary aspect so no archiving)...

2018-08-16 12:59:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Mark> An increasing number of our Windows Alfresco machines have been experiencing issues with rebooting. The service stop will timeout, and killing the tomcat process will result in an access denied error message after which the only resolution is to reboot the machine. On yet other machines, the JVM fails to claim SSL ports despite them being available. Have others been experiencing issues like these?

2018-08-16 13:06:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @Mark Are you running an instance installed with the Alfresco installer? Can you try a newer version of the jvm?

2018-08-16 13:08:25 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Anyone aware of other similar files to the Thumbs.db that may sneak into the repository, using CIFS for example? They have seem to cause issues when trying to sync a folder that contain these kind of files.

2018-08-16 13:09:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @mbui The bean I mentioned have some in its list

2018-08-16 13:10:41 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Ah, thanks.

2018-08-16 15:07:14 GMT <fwu2018> ppl, using the REST API if I updtae a task with the state=completed, the complete event is being executed. However, how can I run the create event? Which method should I call?

2018-08-16 15:19:51 GMT <fwu2018> hmmm... maybe a dumb question. After a complete I believe the framework calls the create of the following task.

2018-08-16 15:32:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Mark> @Loftux I am, and I could. Any reason to believe that should cause improvement?

2018-08-16 15:33:58 GMT <fwu2018> ppl, is it possible to set a property of type cm:person using the REST API?

2018-08-16 15:36:17 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @Mark it is windows you are dealing with. Some new patches on Windows and it may cause issues with the jvm bundled in the installer (it is probably an old java version). Same may be with the bundled Tomcat. Sorry if can't be more specific, Windows as an application server is something I avoid.

2018-08-16 15:37:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Mark> It's something I avoid as well. Sometimes it's not up to me unfortunately.

2018-08-16 16:00:28 GMT <yreg> ~later tell afaust have you ever used http://gceasy.io/ ? Seems quite powerful as a solution !

2018-08-16 16:00:28 GMT <alfbot> yreg: The operation succeeded.

2018-08-16 16:04:11 GMT <alfbot> AFaust: Sent 3 minutes ago: <yreg> have you ever used http://gceasy.io/ ? Seems quite powerful as a solution !

2018-08-16 16:04:37 GMT <AFaust> yreg: No, I have not. So far all GC analysis that I needed could easily be done by my Mark-0 eyeball

2018-08-16 16:06:03 GMT <AFaust> But for anyone that is more of a visually-minded human than I am, it looks to be useful

2018-08-16 17:05:35 GMT <fwu2018> can someone give me an example of what is a fully qualified user name?

2018-08-16 18:27:56 GMT <fwu2018> back

2018-08-16 22:16:50 GMT <fwu2018> afaust, are you there? I need your help... Can you explain me what is a fully qualified user name/grou name, please?

2018-08-16 22:17:05 GMT <fwu2018> grou = group

2018-08-16 22:19:19 GMT <fwu2018> I read this "For cm:person and cm:authorityContainer content model types the value must be the fully qualified user name or group name. "

2018-08-16 22:19:28 GMT <fwu2018> here: https://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/pra/1/concepts/act-processes-post-process.html

2018-08-16 22:19:30 GMT <alfbot> Title:Start a new process | Alfresco Documentation (at docs.alfresco.com)

2018-08-16 22:26:10 GMT <AFaust> fwu2018: About to go to bed. The proper name for the person is just the user name - nothing special. For the group it is the authority name starting with GROUP_*
