Daily Log for #alfresco

2018-09-20 07:10:59 GMT <yreg> Good morning everyone !

2018-09-20 07:12:18 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Good morning yreg

2018-09-20 07:16:00 GMT <yreg> Howdy bhagyas

2018-09-20 08:14:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Doing good ÖD

2018-09-20 08:14:37 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> got a segway es2 yesterday 😃

2018-09-20 10:45:21 GMT <proteque> I am trying to figure out where alfresco is atm regarding something to replace share with?

2018-09-20 10:45:40 GMT <proteque> or any 3. party replacement? (commersial or open)

2018-09-20 10:47:12 GMT <yreg> proteque, I believe the share thing got far more attention than it should, share isn't going to disappear any time soon

2018-09-20 10:47:38 GMT <angelborroy> They will release this one as “Share” replacement

2018-09-20 10:47:39 GMT <angelborroy> https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-content-app

2018-09-20 10:47:40 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - Alfresco/alfresco-content-app: Alfresco Example Content Application (at github.com)

2018-09-20 10:47:44 GMT <angelborroy> Probably in next DevCon

2018-09-20 10:48:30 GMT <yreg> angelborroy, it is still far from being a share replacement, but it does cover some basics

2018-09-20 10:48:58 GMT <angelborroy> I’m just talking about Alfresco plans, without making any other consideration relating the App

2018-09-20 10:49:14 GMT <angelborroy> And, of course, I know ACA very well

2018-09-20 10:49:21 GMT <yreg> As for 3rd party frontend, there are quite a few options : You could build something on top of ADF (like the example content app linked by Angel)

2018-09-20 10:49:50 GMT <angelborroy> or adopt some commercial client from Xenit

2018-09-20 10:49:53 GMT <yreg> And you get to use not only add component but any angular component could be integrated fairly easy

2018-09-20 10:50:31 GMT <yreg> If your use case is focused on search and drill down in results using facets, the Finder of Xenit would be a solid candidate

2018-09-20 10:52:22 GMT <proteque> our case is mostly to use share as "groups of people cowork on "some subject"". So share is in a way perfect. but it lacks support for handheld devices and is becomming oldfashioned.

2018-09-20 10:53:56 GMT <yreg> Old-fashioned is never an argument

2018-09-20 10:54:17 GMT <yreg> On handheld devices you should be able to use the android/ios clients

2018-09-20 10:54:18 GMT <proteque> yreg: for the end user it is.

2018-09-20 10:54:21 GMT <angelborroy> Old-fashioned is an argument for a huge percent of users

2018-09-20 10:54:23 GMT <angelborroy> +1

2018-09-20 10:54:27 GMT <yreg> You only need proper configuration

2018-09-20 10:55:09 GMT <proteque> the ios/android client did not support wiki, blog etc last time I checked. maybe that have changed. Will recheck.

2018-09-20 10:55:55 GMT <yreg> I thought that part was being deprecated (talking about blogs/wiki ..) in any case, you won't find support for those features outside of share

2018-09-20 10:56:43 GMT <proteque> hense my question :)

2018-09-20 10:56:56 GMT <proteque> (which has been answered)

2018-09-20 11:05:48 GMT <alfresco-discord> <IanW> blogs/wikis/discussion lists have been on the way out for a long time - the opinion I got (ages ago) was that it's better to use something else and integrate into an ADF app as it's not something Alfresco will ever do well (we rely quite heavily on discussion lists - to the extent of publishing an extension)

2018-09-20 11:06:55 GMT <alfresco-discord> <IanW> Must be some reason share discussion lists weren't included in the options for moving on from IRC....

2018-09-20 14:16:01 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> @kgastaldo another quesion added;)

2018-09-20 15:31:47 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> is there a link for the ttl?

2018-09-20 15:32:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> https://alfresco.zoom.us/my/officehours

2018-09-20 15:32:39 GMT <alfbot> Title:Unsupported Operating System - Zoom (at alfresco.zoom.us)

2018-09-20 18:09:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Shibak Tensai> So if I download this tool

2018-09-20 18:09:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Shibak Tensai> https://github.com/OrderOfTheBee/ootbee-support-tools

2018-09-20 18:09:30 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - OrderOfTheBee/ootbee-support-tools: OOTBee Support Tools addon to extend set of administrative tools on Repository- and Share-tier (at github.com)

2018-09-20 18:09:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Shibak Tensai> all I have to do is run mvn install and it will create the amp files for me?
