Daily Log for #alfresco

2018-10-18 09:58:54 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Tichodroma> Share configuration for an aspect like this <config evaluator="aspect" condition="foo:bar"> should make the aspect properties available for every type having the aspect, correct?

2018-10-18 09:59:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Tichodroma> My observation: It works for content types but not for folder types. Fun fact: it works on one system but not on a second system I thought to be identical.

2018-10-18 09:59:42 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Tichodroma> Ideas what could be the reason?

2018-10-18 10:01:44 GMT <angelborroy> I’m not sure but I would say that I have that working for 5.1 and 5.2

2018-10-18 10:01:55 GMT <angelborroy> Not tested yet for 6, but it should work

2018-10-18 10:04:21 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Tichodroma> 5.1 here

2018-10-18 10:12:56 GMT <fwu2018> hi all

2018-10-18 10:14:05 GMT <fwu2018> ppl, can someone explain me what is the "key" of the reset-password api call?

2018-10-18 10:14:39 GMT <fwu2018> actually I dont even understand the "id" parameter also.

2018-10-18 10:43:30 GMT <AFaust> Tichodroma: I use such config extensively, and so far never had an issue with folder types...

2018-10-18 10:45:38 GMT <AFaust> Most often when it "did not work", I ended up finding some sort of hard config override in some weird place (or that config load order was broken, ALF-21820) that negated my own config

2018-10-18 10:47:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> +1 AFaust

2018-10-18 10:49:02 GMT <Tichodroma> yes, probably something like this

2018-10-18 11:57:57 GMT <fwu2018> ppl, using the rest api there is a client=share. Where can I define a new client? So that the link on the email points to mai client and not to share?

2018-10-18 11:58:32 GMT <fwu2018> Im talking about the request reset password

2018-10-18 12:08:09 GMT <AxelFaust> fwu2018: AFAIK you can't and there is likely a hard-coded switch case for predefined values in the implementation

2018-10-18 12:10:21 GMT <AxelFaust> Or I am mistaken and have just not seen this file before: https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-repository/blob/master/src/main/resources/alfresco/client/config/repo-clients-apps.properties

2018-10-18 12:10:22 GMT <alfbot> Title:alfresco-repository/repo-clients-apps.properties at master · Alfresco/alfresco-repository · GitHub (at github.com)

2018-10-18 12:11:10 GMT <AxelFaust> Added in 5.2.1 (Enterprise only) and merged in 6.0 for Community

2018-10-18 12:11:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> maybe they are merging some addon into the core?

2018-10-18 12:12:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> as they did with trashcleaner?

2018-10-18 12:12:10 GMT <AxelFaust> So it looks like "Jamal Kaabi-Mofrad" is one of the very few newer Alfresco engineers who does think about customizability instead of agile "hard-code first, think about extensions later"

2018-10-18 12:12:40 GMT <AxelFaust> No, that code looks to be "original"

2018-10-18 12:12:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> interesting

2018-10-18 12:13:41 GMT <AxelFaust> It's apparently just a small addition to the existing authentication / password generator code

2018-10-18 12:33:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Nice

2018-10-18 13:31:27 GMT <fwu2018> axelfaust, thank you

2018-10-18 13:31:48 GMT <fwu2018> but im with 5.2 so I believe I will need to search in the code

2018-10-18 13:33:08 GMT <fwu2018> I need to set it to another url

2018-10-18 13:45:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @kgastaldo I reaaly thing announcements are better posted here

2018-10-18 13:46:11 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> since the is the channel that syncs to IRC

2018-10-18 13:46:21 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> and therefore has more reach

2018-10-18 13:46:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> having all announcement in a separate dedicated channel is nice, but it is a luxary in my opinion for catching up with old announcements

2018-10-18 13:48:17 GMT <angelborroy> What “announcement” are you talking about?

2018-10-18 13:48:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> Ahh, fair enough.

2018-10-18 13:48:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> We aren't doing Office Hours today

2018-10-18 13:48:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> angelborroy exactly 😄

2018-10-18 13:48:39 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> We've got an all hands, so delaying office hours until next week!

2018-10-18 13:48:41 GMT <angelborroy> I was “ironic on” :D

2018-10-18 13:52:00 GMT <AxelFaust> fwu2018: Assume that this does not exist in 5.2 community since it was added in 5.2.1 Enterprise...

2018-10-18 13:52:21 GMT <AxelFaust> So really not much point in searching the source

2018-10-18 14:05:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Ill look into if we can sync the announcements channel to IRC as well

2018-10-18 14:06:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Then it will be a luxury we can afford 😊

2018-10-18 14:08:12 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @bhagyas it's unfortunate discord only supports incoming webhook, otherwise it would have been easier to simple create an out webhook that would post from announcements to this channel

2018-10-18 14:11:26 GMT <Tichodroma> using scriptNode.removePermission(permissionName, userId) fails with "Can not delete from this acl in a node context SHARED". I tried to prevent this by first checking for scriptNode.inheritsPermissions() which does not work: for the top node in an inheritance tree I *can* remove the permission while for the child nodes I can't.

2018-10-18 14:11:50 GMT <Tichodroma> Is there a way to check if removePermission will fail *before* executing it?

2018-10-18 15:38:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> <RichetDan> Hi all

2018-10-18 15:39:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <RichetDan> are alfresco search services 1.2 compatible with alfresco community 5.2 (GA201707)?

2018-10-18 15:39:41 GMT <alfresco-discord> <RichetDan> or I still have to install search services 1.1 ?

2018-10-18 15:40:19 GMT <AxelFaust> Tichodroma: Only by retrieving the permissions first and looking for a permission set directly on the node...

2018-10-18 15:41:03 GMT <AxelFaust> i,e. ScriptNode.getDirectPermissions

2018-10-18 15:41:37 GMT <AxelFaust> When length != 0 => safe to call removePermission()

2018-10-18 15:42:34 GMT <AxelFaust> You have to do that for every node you want to process - there is no safe way to rely on any parent-child correlations

2018-10-18 15:42:49 GMT <AxelFaust> IMHO the script API should have been implemented in a smarter way

2018-10-18 15:45:26 GMT <AxelFaust> And the ACL DAO should have checked before blindly firing a delete statement too

2018-10-18 15:46:36 GMT <AxelFaust> RichetDan: Has there been a release of 1.2 yet? I don't see such a tag on GitHub yet...

2018-10-18 15:46:57 GMT <AxelFaust> Wait, yes, I do... (just had to fix a scrolling freeze)

2018-10-18 15:47:03 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> it has been released a while ago

2018-10-18 15:47:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> check docker hub

2018-10-18 15:49:04 GMT <AxelFaust> Well, from what I see, Search Services would be compatible with Alfresco 5.2, but you likely cannot use all of its newer functionality, such as additional sharding methods etc.

2018-10-18 15:50:42 GMT <AxelFaust> And since the Enterprise documentation for 5.2 even includes a reference to Search Services 1.2, I am quite confident it is compatible

2018-10-18 15:52:00 GMT <AxelFaust> yreg: Why would I ever check Docker hub if I don't plan on using any of the default images?

2018-10-18 15:52:47 GMT <alfresco-discord> <RichetDan> It seems yes:

2018-10-18 15:52:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> to peek at what has been released

2018-10-18 15:53:37 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> anyway, I also saw a tweet from harry when 1.2 was released

2018-10-18 15:53:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <RichetDan> thank you
