Daily Log for #alfresco

2019-01-11 07:48:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @bhagyas what is that mee6 bot doing ?

2019-01-11 07:48:54 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> it doesn't seem to be detecting any of the spam happening lately

2019-01-11 07:54:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> @yreg @mbui will answer that better

2019-01-11 07:55:01 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> I guess it should have at least easily detected spam in #hackathon channel

2019-01-11 07:55:03 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> If spamming is to happen on discord, we can switch posting permissions to allow people who have registered accounts or have been in the channel for 10 minutes

2019-01-11 07:55:46 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Spam always stays one step ahead of detection tech, so I think there will be misses

2019-01-11 07:58:01 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Found a better option :

2019-01-11 07:58:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/451644531323174914/533192845557891084/unknown.png

2019-01-11 07:58:30 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Sounds like freedom of speech might be in trouble if spam continues to happen

2019-01-11 07:58:55 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> specially with some cursing happening on IRC

2019-01-11 07:59:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> But, I just set it to the second option now - so if anyone doesn't have a role the messages will go through a filter

2019-01-11 08:01:14 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Well you can create a new role "Allowed to curse" just to avoid that ๐Ÿคฃ

2019-01-11 08:01:22 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Exactly what I was thinking

2019-01-11 08:01:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> xD

2019-01-11 08:02:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> https://twitter.com/gitlost

2019-01-11 09:24:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Does anyone have a theory on why is Alfresco not a part of this? http://jackrabbit.apache.org/jcr/getting-started-with-apache-jackrabbit.html

2019-01-11 09:24:46 GMT <alfbot> Title:Apache Jackrabbit - Getting Started with Apache Jackrabbit (at jackrabbit.apache.org)

2019-01-11 09:39:53 GMT <angelborroy> because Jackrabbit is a real Open Source project

2019-01-11 09:40:00 GMT <angelborroy> probably they are scared about it

2019-01-11 09:40:03 GMT <angelborroy> :-P

2019-01-11 09:40:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Adobe is involved in it with engineers contributing

2019-01-11 09:41:17 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Adobe is also working on a open source SMB implementation for Node

2019-01-11 09:41:31 GMT <angelborroy> SMBv2, right?

2019-01-11 09:41:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> SMBv2 with v3 partly supported

2019-01-11 09:42:00 GMT <angelborroy> and itโ€™s just released?

2019-01-11 09:42:13 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> https://github.com/adobe/node-smb-server

2019-01-11 09:42:14 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - adobe/node-smb-server: A 100% JavaScript implementation of the SMB file sharing protocol. (at github.com)

2019-01-11 09:42:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> v2 and v3 are pretty much the same

2019-01-11 09:42:59 GMT <angelborroy> itโ€™s on the same development status as 1 year ago

2019-01-11 09:43:08 GMT <angelborroy> it looks like SMBv2 is still not supported

2019-01-11 09:43:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> I see it as wip

2019-01-11 09:43:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> yeah

2019-01-11 09:44:38 GMT <angelborroy> but JackRabbit looks live and ready to use

2019-01-11 09:45:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> yup

2019-01-11 09:47:07 GMT <angelborroy> but the are moving to JackRabbit OAK

2019-01-11 09:47:16 GMT <angelborroy> which (again) looks still starting

2019-01-11 09:47:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> I see

2019-01-11 09:47:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> They are recreating the core to make it scalable and performant

2019-01-11 09:47:50 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> "Jackrabbit Oak is an effort to implement a scalable and performant hierarchical content repository for use as the foundation of modern world-class web sites and other demanding content applications."

2019-01-11 09:48:33 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - apache/jackrabbit-oak: Mirror of Apache Jackrabbit Oak (at github.com)

2019-01-11 09:48:55 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> maybe Alfresco can try using a similar repo structure I wish

2019-01-11 09:48:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2019-01-11 09:49:05 GMT <angelborroy> nah

2019-01-11 09:49:16 GMT <angelborroy> this repo structure is not Cloud Native

2019-01-11 09:49:18 GMT <angelborroy> you know

2019-01-11 09:54:17 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> nah they seem to have a single repo, instead of a repo for each module

2019-01-11 09:54:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> I remember Alfresco engineers were complaining that Git was not able to handle such a big repo

2019-01-11 09:55:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Speaking from an entitled pov, I think it's fine to break it down, as long as they provide a way for us to build it ๐Ÿ˜›

2019-01-11 10:16:05 GMT <angelborroy> ~later tell AFaust Iโ€™ve been reviewing DevCon program and public information

2019-01-11 10:16:05 GMT <alfbot> angelborroy: The operation succeeded.

2019-01-11 10:16:41 GMT <angelborroy> ~later tell AFaust Probably itโ€™s not true, but it looks like Order of the Bee has not collaborated in the conference

2019-01-11 10:16:41 GMT <alfbot> angelborroy: The operation succeeded.

2019-01-11 10:16:57 GMT <angelborroy> ~later tell AFaust And also that Community is officially excluded from the event

2019-01-11 10:16:57 GMT <alfbot> angelborroy: The operation succeeded.

2019-01-11 10:17:17 GMT <angelborroy> ~later tell AFaust In only 2 years, we have a new Summit again :(

2019-01-11 10:17:17 GMT <alfbot> angelborroy: The operation succeeded.

2019-01-11 11:09:18 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @bhagyas Just catching up on conversations.. saw your question from yesterday

2019-01-11 11:09:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> Unfortunately I will not be able to join DevCon this year myself

2019-01-11 11:09:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> As much as it pains me, I won't be there

2019-01-11 11:10:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> In other news: We are very close to a beta release of SDK 4.0, which brings support for ACS 6.0 (CE/EE) and 6.1. We're holding off a bit on the 6.1 support until it's actually been released

2019-01-11 11:12:00 GMT <angelborroy> @ohej So if Developer Evangelist is not at DevCon and also Order of the Bee has no visibilityโ€ฆ

2019-01-11 11:12:24 GMT <angelborroy> @ohej โ€ฆ what has planned Alfresco to engage (Community) developers?

2019-01-11 11:12:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @jpotts I'd be interested to know a bit more about the performance you experienced on your laptop. Were you using the docker-compose provided in the acs-packaging repo on Github? The SDK does not have all the same settings and does not launch the transformers by default, so it should feel more light weight. But this is a good point, I'll see if I can find an older laptop to test and give it a spin

2019-01-11 11:13:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @angel.borroy I'm happy to say that this is not a company decision, but a rather personal one. My wife is pregnant and the baby is due the week after DevCon. Since there are no direct flights from Denmark to Edinburgh, I'm looking at a 8+ hour trip. In theory it shouldn't be a problem, but I'd really, really hate to miss the birth of our first child ๐Ÿ˜‰

2019-01-11 11:14:04 GMT <angelborroy> @ohej Congrats!

2019-01-11 11:14:22 GMT <angelborroy> @ohej I was not asking why you are not attending, Iโ€™m asking what Alfresco has planned to do

2019-01-11 11:14:47 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> I can just imagine me being on stage and my wife calls me.. uhm, honey can you hold it for like 10 hours or so? ๐Ÿ˜›

2019-01-11 11:16:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @angel.borroy We are working on a new strategy for community engagement, but it also highly depends on what the community wants and need.

2019-01-11 11:20:04 GMT <angelborroy> @ohej Iโ€™ll talk about this strategy during the Conference with Francesco or so

2019-01-11 11:20:21 GMT <angelborroy> @ohej it will be (very) relevant for my future decisions

2019-01-11 11:20:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> You can do telepresence ๐Ÿ˜›

2019-01-11 11:21:09 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> and congratulations on your baby!

2019-01-11 11:21:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2019-01-11 11:21:13 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> Thanks

2019-01-11 11:21:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> I have considered if we could have a tablet with a permanent zoom in a corner so anyone who wants to catch up can just bump over ๐Ÿ˜‰

2019-01-11 11:21:46 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> yup

2019-01-11 11:28:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> @ohej @bhagyas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5LKXO9aCTc

2019-01-11 11:28:30 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> just and idea ๐Ÿ˜„

2019-01-11 11:45:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> ๐Ÿ˜„

2019-01-11 11:49:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> Something like that could work ๐Ÿ˜‰

2019-01-11 12:07:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @ohej, @kgastaldo I do also hope to see a live video of some sort or a zoom session... at least for the main track !

2019-01-11 12:45:43 GMT <Tichodroma> ohej: On wednesday we talked about how difficult it is to just `mvn test package` the current ACS etc. Tests fail, Maven builds fail. This makes it very difficult to for example fix bugs in Alfresco code and open a PR.

2019-01-11 12:46:44 GMT <Tichodroma> The basic requirement for an SDK would be a set of buildable, testable Maven projects that don't depend on unreachable Maven repositories. Everything else comes later.

2019-01-11 12:46:55 GMT <Tichodroma> Can you say anythig about the state of this?

2019-01-11 12:50:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> <rsc_co> Sex dating Discord > http://discord.amazingsexdating.com

2019-01-11 12:50:05 GMT <alfbot> Title:Dating (at discord.amazingsexdating.com)

2019-01-11 12:59:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @bhagyas this is the same spam message we've been having for weeks, are there any options to ban it based on an exact match or something ?

2019-01-11 13:09:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> @yreg Yeah, should be possible. Let me look into it

2019-01-11 13:12:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @Tichodroma That is a very good point. We should bring this up with the engineering team

2019-01-11 13:13:13 GMT <Tichodroma> ty

2019-01-11 13:14:46 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> The link that was previously sent has been added to the bad words list. So it should be automatically removed now at least.

2019-01-11 14:21:42 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> @angel.borroy - Why do you feel like OOTBee is not involved in DevCon? or that community is excluded?

2019-01-11 14:25:21 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> @yreg We're definitely recording everything and will send a link after the event. The venue is handling the recording this year with speaker video and direct feed from computer - so shouldn't take a month to get videos out (like last year)

2019-01-11 14:26:02 GMT <hi-ko> kgastaldo: thumbs up!

2019-01-11 14:26:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> @yreg We also did talk about doing a live stream, at least of keynotes - and I'll keep you posted if that happens. But everything will be recorded, either way.

2019-01-11 14:40:47 GMT <alfresco-discord> <hi-ko> sorry, sent accidently as PM. @ohej so you are the person in charge for the bug hunt team ๐Ÿ˜‰ https://community.alfresco.com/docs/DOC-8064-projects-and-teams-hack-a-thon-at-devcon-2019#jive_content_id_The_Big_BugHuntAndFix_of_DevCon_2019

2019-01-11 14:40:48 GMT <alfbot> Title:Projects and Teams Hack-a-thon at DevCon 2019 | Alfresco Community (at community.alfresco.com)

2019-01-11 14:48:57 GMT <hi-ko> @ohej you should be able to support/assist to build up an independant build environment before hackaton starts, right?

2019-01-11 14:52:37 GMT <hi-ko> @ohej i volunteer to take the beta tester role giving everyone access to the server joining the team.

2019-01-11 14:57:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @hi-ko Not sure what you're asking? help with setting what up?

2019-01-11 14:59:10 GMT <hi-ko> @ohej a working (from alfresco) independent build environment for mvn builds and testing to be used by the bug hunt team (and maybe others)

2019-01-11 14:59:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @ohej if I understand right, currently the test on the various ACS projects seem to be tightly coupled to internal alfresco (/undocumented) infra setup

2019-01-11 14:59:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> which makes it challenging to test one's changes effeciently before issuing a PR

2019-01-11 14:59:52 GMT <hi-ko> @yreg @ohej event the build!

2019-01-11 15:01:02 GMT <hi-ko> s/event/even/ (I hate auto correction!)

2019-01-11 15:40:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Nice! โค
