Daily Log for #alfresco

2019-03-05 06:29:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Cetra> Hi all: Does anyone know what the Event and Messaging subsystems do? I am assuming it's just for Desktop Sync and Media Management yeah?

2019-03-05 06:29:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Cetra> I.e, what's the point of having ActiveMQ in version 6

2019-03-05 07:09:17 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> hi @Cetra still waiting on more info, other than handling raw events, which in enterprise we have this new async transformer thing, in community we dont know yet, https://community.alfresco.com/docs/DOC-8102-alfresco-community-edition-201901-ga-release-notes

2019-03-05 07:09:20 GMT <alfbot> Title:Alfresco Community Edition 201901 GA Release Notes | Alfresco Community (at community.alfresco.com)

2019-03-05 07:13:50 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Cetra> Well, if you don't have ActiveMQ running, Alfresco 6.1 just does not start at all! Unless you disable the subsystems (messaging.subsystem.autoStart=false & events.subsystem.autoStart=false). No point running up ActiveMQ if it's not used, but I notice that even the community docker compose runs up an instance for no reason.

2019-03-05 07:17:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> yes, I saw that, we are still waiting to hear from alfresco about this, as you can see in the comments just a few people are waiting for more info !! 😃

2019-03-05 07:18:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Cetra> Ah yep, I can see the comments

2019-03-05 07:20:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Cetra> fun and games...

2019-03-05 07:20:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> indeed.....

2019-03-05 07:46:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> hi @kgastaldo are we expecting the devcon talks to appear on this page https://community.alfresco.com/docs/DOC-8095-devcon-2019-speakers-slides ?

2019-03-05 07:46:37 GMT <alfbot> Title:DevCon 2019 - Speakers & Slides | Alfresco Community (at community.alfresco.com)

2019-03-05 10:59:11 GMT <troffasky> i want to use this but not the nginx component as i already have apache running on port 80: https://github.com/keensoft/docker-alfresco

2019-03-05 10:59:12 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - keensoft/docker-alfresco: Docker Alfresco Compose ready to be used (at github.com)

2019-03-05 10:59:28 GMT <troffasky> if i just comment out the proxy: section in docker-compose.yml, is it likely to work?

2019-03-05 11:00:12 GMT <troffasky> nothing seems to depend on nginx so seems like it would be fine

2019-03-05 12:01:32 GMT <troffasky> seems to be OK but solr isn't happy

2019-03-05 13:42:07 GMT <troffasky> this issue, in fact: https://github.com/keensoft/alfresco-docker-template/issues/5

2019-03-05 13:42:08 GMT <alfbot> Title:Solr startup error · Issue #5 · keensoft/alfresco-docker-template · GitHub (at github.com)

2019-03-05 15:04:07 GMT <troffasky> well whaddya know

2019-03-05 15:05:16 GMT <troffasky> if you set the permissions as per what it says in docker-compose.yml rather than README.md, then it works!

2019-03-05 15:05:42 GMT <troffasky> # Set permissions for user with uid 1000 ('isadm' in host, 'solr' in container)

2019-03-05 20:30:09 GMT <alfresco-discord> <LuisArapa> hi, can you help me, please? I want to know if Alfresco can work with IP v6 Protocol and what requirements are necesary...

2019-03-05 20:42:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @LuisArapa I don't understand your question

2019-03-05 20:43:18 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> but I guess whatever you mean, even if alfresco doesn't natively support it, you could use a reverse proxy of some kind to add that support

2019-03-05 20:45:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <LuisArapa> sorry, I mean ...that I want to enable ipv6 on Alfresco. how difficult is it? Thanks for you opinion

2019-03-05 20:46:24 GMT <troffasky> use it behind a reverse proxy, then difficulty = negligable

2019-03-05 22:29:22 GMT <alfresco-discord> <LuisArapa> thanks i will try
