Daily Log for #alfresco

2019-03-06 10:40:05 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> hi people, how are you deploying your custom models in Alfresco? usually I use to build "modules" (amps) and deploy it via xml, however those models are not seen in the model manager and it is a bit inconvenient. The model manager only shows what is deployed in the Data Dictionnary. So, my real question is is there a way unknown to me that I can use the model manager (ui layout) with "statically"

2019-03-06 10:40:06 GMT <alfresco-discord> deployed models or not? And if not do you guys deploy from an amp in the Data Dictionnary/Models ?

2019-03-06 10:41:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> and by the way deploying all the models manually makes no sense (to me a this moment) since it is a manual repetitive task on each different environment

2019-03-06 10:43:05 GMT <angelborroy> I’m not using Model Manager tools

2019-03-06 10:43:11 GMT <angelborroy> It’s an unfinished feature

2019-03-06 10:43:31 GMT <angelborroy> I always deploy models inside AMP/JAR modules

2019-03-06 10:43:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> I know ... but but ... it seems it will be something good in the future

2019-03-06 10:44:05 GMT <angelborroy> No, this Model Manager feature is going to be removed / abandoned

2019-03-06 10:44:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> I do the same, but now because of the model manager I am questioning that

2019-03-06 10:44:12 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> really is it?

2019-03-06 10:44:16 GMT <angelborroy> Yes

2019-03-06 10:44:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> ah damn

2019-03-06 10:44:29 GMT <angelborroy> And it does not support all the features you can model in an XML

2019-03-06 10:44:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> any annoucement about that?

2019-03-06 10:44:44 GMT <angelborroy> It has been frozen since 2016

2019-03-06 10:44:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> I know it does not support all the things, but the rudimentary stuff are ok and the layout is simple on the fly

2019-03-06 10:45:06 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> ah geez ... I am not following all that

2019-03-06 10:45:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> but it is still being "documented" https://docs.alfresco.com/6.1/concepts/admintools-cmm-intro.html

2019-03-06 10:46:00 GMT <alfbot> Title:Content modeling with Model Manager | Alfresco Documentation (at docs.alfresco.com)

2019-03-06 10:46:19 GMT <angelborroy> Yes, but it’s Share-related thing to be removed in the future

2019-03-06 10:46:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> and also the "alfresco admin console" when listing models, only shows models from Data dictionnary

2019-03-06 10:46:34 GMT <angelborroy> You can take “as is”, as long Share lives

2019-03-06 10:46:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> ah I see what you mean

2019-03-06 10:47:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> my main concern is, is there a "new" way of deploying models that I am not aware ... that could benefit of those features

2019-03-06 10:47:57 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> but seems not, only a xml deploy or via the Models folder, right?

2019-03-06 10:48:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> not talking about the admin console here

2019-03-06 10:49:19 GMT <angelborroy> Model Manager is using the same mechanism

2019-03-06 10:49:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> I know that
