Daily Log for #alfresco

2019-03-12 09:46:53 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> What is the remote office policy at Alfresco?

2019-03-12 09:47:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> are you allowed to work from anywhere in the world? or do you have to be close to a given office in a particular region?

2019-03-12 09:47:37 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> @kgastaldo @angel.borroy

2019-03-12 09:48:17 GMT <angelborroy> No idea

2019-03-12 09:49:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <AHT> When angel told the remote possibility I checked job offers.... some of them accept remote work.. maybe there is a policy about it πŸ˜ƒ

2019-03-12 09:55:19 GMT <angelborroy> I know that I have no office nearby restrictions

2019-03-12 09:55:30 GMT <angelborroy> But I don’t know if there are written rules about it

2019-03-12 09:57:35 GMT <yreg> I was once considering a remote position at alfresco, I guess the rule is : If the position qualifies for remote work, and Alfresco already have people in the payroll from the country you live in, then it is OK

2019-03-12 09:58:33 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> so there must be another Alfrescian working from Spain for Angel

2019-03-12 09:59:12 GMT <angelborroy> yes, they are

2019-03-12 09:59:17 GMT <angelborroy> but no one from Zaragoza

2019-03-12 11:03:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Is it possible to use a users alf_ticket to authenticate the browsers user session?

2019-03-12 11:05:13 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Like http://localhost:8081/share/page/user/admin/dashboard?alf_ticket=TICKET_1231231231212 or similar.

2019-03-12 11:07:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Nope, unless you implement your own security filter in share to do that, there is nothing OOTB facilitating that usecase

2019-03-12 11:42:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> Is there any comparison on what is available for Enterprise/Community and workflows, and where things are heading? Still find it a bit unclear with embedded Activity vs Alfresco Business Processes.

2019-03-12 12:10:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Comparison between activiti/aps here: https://www.alfresco.com/platform/process-services-bpm#section--table

2019-03-12 12:10:41 GMT <alfbot> Title:Business Process Management (BPM) System | Alfresco (at www.alfresco.com)

2019-03-12 12:12:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Personally, it feels like Alfresco is kinda pushing into having to use APS/ADF. The APS share connector is deprecated afaik, so you'd need to use ADF if you want to use APS.

2019-03-12 12:14:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> If you have "easy" workflows you could probably just quickly implement them in the embedded activiti, however if you have more complex requirements Alfresco recommends using APS/Activiti is what I understand..

2019-03-12 12:55:50 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Alfresco User> I have writ CDten integration test cases based on the bootstrap HelloWorldwebScriptControllerIT. everything is fine for a few tests. Also, I tried extending AbstractAlfrescoIT to retrieve ServiceRegistry object from getServiceRegistry(). But, all I get is null. What could I possibly be missing?

2019-03-12 13:03:06 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @mbui Thanks. Lots of things Alfresco feel like it is in a transition state right now (because it is I guess).

2019-03-12 13:36:01 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> hi guys, is AGS in 6.1 enterprise an additional license or it is there with ACS?

2019-03-12 13:36:41 GMT <angelborroy> AGS Enterprise has a separate license, yes

2019-03-12 13:37:13 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> any idea how much does it cost?

2019-03-12 13:38:02 GMT <angelborroy> Nope

2019-03-12 13:38:07 GMT <angelborroy> Editions are available at

2019-03-12 13:38:07 GMT <angelborroy> https://www.alfresco.com/platform/pricing

2019-03-12 13:38:08 GMT <alfbot> Title:Pricing Comparison | Alfresco (at www.alfresco.com)

2019-03-12 13:38:35 GMT <angelborroy> Anyway, you know, the price depends on many different factors

2019-03-12 13:38:37 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> you switched very quickly πŸ˜‰ in a sales person

2019-03-12 13:38:44 GMT <angelborroy> ahhhh

2019-03-12 13:38:48 GMT <angelborroy> don’t insult me!

2019-03-12 13:38:52 GMT <angelborroy> I’m joining as Engineer

2019-03-12 13:38:55 GMT <angelborroy> :D

2019-03-12 13:50:10 GMT <angelborroy> @dgradecak you know me, I’m joking, right?

2019-03-12 14:04:37 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kgastaldo> In regards to remote work, I'm not 100% sure our policy. I'm sure it varies by country. I'm 100% remote, Francesco is half-remote, Ole is mostly remote ... I think it's something we're really open to, just depends on the position and location.

2019-03-12 14:20:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sbennett> Hey folks. @kgastaldo is right. We're open to remote working, but it does depend on the location and the position we're recruiting for. For some roles, we recognize that it's more effective for people to be in the same room. We also know that the trend within the industry right now is more towards remote work so it's a regular conversation that comes up internally.

2019-03-12 14:32:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> Hi @sbennett any news re sourceforge and what's happening re community and this mq in the deployment

2019-03-12 14:44:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> @angelborroy I know you πŸ˜„

2019-03-12 16:18:03 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sbennett> Hey @digcat . I had a conversation on Friday about distribution of community releases. It's likely that we'll move away from Sourceforge and have releases posted to www.alfresco.com. Increasing the number of places we distribute to causes us issues with ensuring that everything is updated in a timely manner. I'm working with our folks in Engineering and Marketing to get a clear message out to the

2019-03-12 16:18:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> community of why, and what we plan to do in the future. Expect to see a blog post (or similar) with the details.

2019-03-12 16:28:54 GMT <AFaust> Are releases not yet automated with Alfresco Process Services?

2019-03-12 18:51:48 GMT *** CptLuxx_ is now known as CptLuxx

2019-03-12 19:01:00 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Guys, any idea if Alfresco WCM QuickStart is still supported with the 6.x line ?

2019-03-12 19:04:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> Thanks @sbennett also a blog post on transformer plans for community

2019-03-12 19:04:17 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> Would be helpful

2019-03-12 19:21:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Ok, checked out tag 6.0 from share repo and built the WCM QS parent and module and the build succeeded, fingers crossed to see if that works

2019-03-12 19:42:39 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> it doesn't work, seems to be an issue with cronjobs definition that is preventing the server staertup

2019-03-12 19:47:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> @yreg I am sure angel will get a link with a quote πŸ˜‰

2019-03-12 20:02:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Are you suggesting he is going to switch to the dark side soon instead of spreading the light into Alfresco ?

2019-03-12 20:03:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> But no, seriously, I commented out the cron jobs and I still have troubles bootstrapping, seem to be depending on outdated classes that no longer exist

2019-03-12 22:12:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Maybe he will switch to the dark side, just like @Francesco Corti which is hidden in the shadow! Niark niark 😈
