Daily Log for #alfresco

2019-03-20 07:47:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> morning all, a question from some testing on 6.0.7-ga, on an 8gb RAM machine, on docker.

2019-03-20 07:47:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> im seeing 20-Mar-2019 07:40:47.277 WARNING [localhost-startStop-1] org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoaderBase.clearReferencesThreads The web application [alfresco] appears to have started a thread named [QuartzScheduler_Worker-1] but has failed to stop it. This is very likely to create a memory leak. Stack trace of thread: java.lang.Object.wait(Native Method)

2019-03-20 07:47:46 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> when a user has hit empty trashcan

2019-03-20 07:47:57 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> which had lots of old content in it

2019-03-20 07:48:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> this caused the system to give out 503 errors, and a restart doesnt seem to be clearing the error

2019-03-20 07:48:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> does anyone know how to clear this issue

2019-03-20 07:49:19 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> giving more RAM to the machine was my initial thought, but was wondering if anyone else has seen this, and has a more elegant solution

2019-03-20 08:03:42 GMT <alfresco-discord> <AHT> on my 5.2 maven i had something like that... but it was more about stack problems... the connection takes more than 2 mins and apache2 workers and other items from the stack closed the connection before back responds with the ok

2019-03-20 08:04:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <AHT> sometimes causing crash from back or error pages in front (because no response was given to that request)

2019-03-20 08:07:11 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> yeah ive tried increased the proxy timeout on the http front end, so share waits longer, but its the repo which isnt coming up, so im assuming the clear trashcan has set off something it cant complete, so gets stuck

2019-03-20 08:07:39 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> yes also with docker in the mix, im not sure if thats part of issue,

2019-03-20 08:09:41 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> sorry just found the thread for this !! https://community.alfresco.com/thread/233277-empty-trashcan-and-timeouts

2019-03-20 08:09:43 GMT <alfbot> Title:Empty trashcan and timeouts | Alfresco Community (at community.alfresco.com)

2019-03-20 08:10:39 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> can now see the hiatus, bit late to actually hitting this issue, and i normally have trash can cleaner setup

2019-03-20 08:10:54 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> nasty gotcha

2019-03-20 08:12:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <AHT> one of my requisites is about to keep 1 year documents at trashcan... so I have Gbs there... i will need to keep that link for future 😄 thx 😄

2019-03-20 08:19:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sumit> Hi All, my alfresco audit tables are taking a huge size and made disk space full. Table "alf_prop_link" size is 72 GB and external size is 48 gb while table "alf_audit_entry" size is 20 GB and external size is 13 GB.

2019-03-20 08:21:18 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sumit> Can someone plz help me how can I cleanup alf_prop_link table which is a huge size?

2019-03-20 08:22:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sumit> I am clearing audit entry through "/api/audit/clear/alfresco-access" but table size is not getting any effect.

2019-03-20 12:10:21 GMT <AFaust> sumit: Clearing audit via ReST API only clears rows in alf_audit_entry table. It does not affect alf_prop_* tables as there is no cascade deletion - the reason for this: alf_prop_* table rows may be re-used for other purposes as well (there is a lot of data normalisation / reuse in there to reduce the growth)

2019-03-20 12:12:18 GMT <AFaust> Default Alfresco includes a (naiive / brute-force-ish) job to clean rows out of alf_prop_* tables that are no longer used, but for such a large DB like you have I woudl definitely not advise running that while Alfresco is actually active. Running this job/script on your DB would effectively lock those tables for a very long time, preventing any data writes and blocking user interactions which may create new (audit) entries.

2019-03-20 12:13:29 GMT <AFaust> One of my addons provides an incremental cleanup which can run as a regularly active background job and will, over time, clean up those no-longer-referenced rows.

2019-03-20 12:13:31 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - Acosix/alfresco-audit: Addon to add audit-related utilities and/or common definitions (at github.com)

2019-03-20 12:15:12 GMT <AFaust> I have not found time yet to work on making this addon Alfresco 6.x compatible, as I still need to find an approach to support 5.x and 6.x at the same time without being forced to branch / create different versions of the addon. Alfresco 5.x and 6.x are unfortunately a bit incompatible when it comes to background jobs due to a library upgrade

2019-03-20 13:03:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> morning everyone

2019-03-20 13:04:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> someone is asking me to configure Alfresco Share with Keycloak, and I guess it is something like https://community.alfresco.com/docs/DOC-8064-projects-and-teams-hack-a-thon-at-devcon-2019?et=watches.email.document#jive_content_id_Keycloak__Alfresco_Identity_Service_support_for_Share

2019-03-20 13:04:09 GMT <alfbot> Title:Projects and Teams Hack-a-thon at DevCon 2019 | Alfresco Community (at community.alfresco.com)

2019-03-20 13:04:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> has anyone done any investigation on this?

2019-03-20 13:19:17 GMT <AFaust> Not yet... I was actually promised at DevCon that John Iball (sp?) would likely contact me to check for options at collaborating with the community on it (several people mentioned this at DevCon including David Webster), but so far I have received no message.

2019-03-20 13:22:10 GMT <AFaust> I currently have a customer who is considering integration with various authentication services (e.g. as provided by AWS) to support tailoring their turn-key solution (including Alfresco as a component) to their customers, and I told them to look at Keycloak for such a use case. Since we are currently looking at using Share for the (small) group of users that need to access the Alfresco component, I may have to look into Keycloak

2019-03-20 13:22:10 GMT <AFaust> integration sometime soon...

2019-03-20 13:24:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> cool

2019-03-20 13:25:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <douglascrp> well, if this company decides to pay us to investigate and try to find a solution, we will be working on this

2019-03-20 16:14:53 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sbennett> Hey everyone. I've looked into Share and AIS/Keycloak support. Internally, we've done a spike to see what integration work it'd take to get it into Share, fully supported. It's gone well, so we'll be going through an estimation exercise to judge the full effort necessary so that we can make some decisions as to when/how/if we can get the work done for the next release. I've also given John Iball

2019-03-20 16:14:53 GMT <alfresco-discord> (spot on with the sp!) a nudge that the community might be able to help 😃

2019-03-20 16:22:12 GMT <alfresco-discord> <AHT> guys.. one of my users deleted a contend with in fly workflow.... now i want to delete the workflow but i only have the taskId... Im on Alfresco 5.0 no workflow console... Wf engine is activiti Any tip about how to find the workflow id or cancel it?

2019-03-20 16:22:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <AHT> thx 😄

2019-03-20 16:33:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <IanW> @sbennett that's great - I'd be very pleased if it can be done in a way that allows for other SSO integrations e.g. CAS as per my CAS integration which breaks every version

2019-03-20 16:36:57 GMT <alfresco-discord> <IanW> As I understand it the AIS intergration requires the use of a specific Alfresco keycloak i.e. doesn't allow the use of an existing keycloak (or other compatible)

2019-03-20 16:42:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <IanW> I had a conversation with Douglas Johnson at DevCon about community help with this as well

2019-03-20 17:52:18 GMT <alfresco-discord> <sbennett> Right now, the AIS is a pretty basic wrapper for Keycloak, preconfigured with the right config and Alfresco theming. It's won't always be this way - we plan to move user functionality, such as profiles, to AIS.

2019-03-20 17:56:35 GMT <TrentonDAdams> I have an amp file that another developer created, it uses the quartz job scheduler. Is there a way of triggering that job without modifying the cron time?

2019-03-20 18:05:22 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> you can use https://github.com/OrderOfTheBee/ootbee-support-tools

2019-03-20 18:05:23 GMT <alfbot> Title:GitHub - OrderOfTheBee/ootbee-support-tools: OOTBee Support Tools addon to extend set of administrative tools on Repository- and Share-tier (at github.com)

2019-03-20 18:06:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> There is a console to run selected jobs without cron restrictions

2019-03-20 18:18:08 GMT <alfresco-discord> <BuRn> Can I trigger a quartz job to run "now" through an API?

2019-03-20 18:18:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <BuRn> We have a module that runs daily, but I'd like it to run on startup as well.

2019-03-20 18:19:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <BuRn> Oh, the irc channel was confusing. You were responding to me, eh @angel.borroy ?

2019-03-20 18:20:02 GMT <alfresco-discord> <BuRn> It appeared that you were responding to angel.borroy, lol.

2019-03-20 18:20:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> I like IRC client, but using this by the moment

2019-03-20 18:20:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> But, yes you can use that addon to run jobs eventually

2019-03-20 20:27:02 GMT <AFaust> Not "eventually", but directly....

2019-03-20 20:27:57 GMT <AFaust> "Eventually" would mean "at some point in the future but not necessarily now", like in "eventual consistency". The OOTBee Support Tools triggers the job right when you hit "Execute now".

2019-03-20 20:28:35 GMT <AFaust> If you look at the source of the addon, you will see that of course there is an API to trigger the execution from your own program code.

2019-03-20 20:29:16 GMT <AFaust> You only need to have a reference to the Quartz scheduler bean and then you can trigger jobs by using the names with which they registered

2019-03-20 20:30:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <edw24> Is it possible to create an ACP based on a search query?

2019-03-20 20:54:25 GMT <AFaust> Technically yes, if you write a custom export crawler that takes your search query as input.

2019-03-20 20:54:32 GMT <AFaust> If you are asking about "out-of-the-box", then no...

2019-03-20 21:34:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <edw24> Okay thanks!

2019-03-20 22:37:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> <edw24> Is there an endpoint/service to pull currently registered content models and their types/aspects/constraints/etc?
