Daily Log for #alfresco

2019-06-12 07:04:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Morning everybody. I have a customer which wants me to install an Alfresco Cluster but he is having trouble providing me the disk for the shared content store. This is all on VMWare ESX. I don't know very well the ESX layer but I was wondering if you can have the same VMDK mounted on both VM and use that for the Alfresco Content Store?

2019-06-12 07:13:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> I'm mainly concerned about possible data corruption

2019-06-12 09:11:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kanat> Hello, guys

2019-06-12 09:15:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kanat> and connect all

2019-06-12 09:17:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <kanat> But this not working

2019-06-12 12:16:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <plus-> is there a way to do a join query in lucene? for ex search content by user lastname instead of username

2019-06-12 12:21:31 GMT <AFaust> 1) Lucene query language is obsolete / deprecated - you should no longer use it. It will not receive any optimisations / fixes etc. Only AFTS and CMIS QL are properly supported and recommended.

2019-06-12 12:22:08 GMT <AFaust> 2) No, there is no JOIN support between two completely distinct queries - in any of the Alfresco query languages.

2019-06-12 12:22:58 GMT <AFaust> In your use case you would have query A for "person with last name X" and query B for "content with modifier resolved by query A", and this is simply not possible to express in just one query.

2019-06-12 12:23:32 GMT <AFaust> Though with the newest SQL-search capabilities in Alfresco Search Services / Insight Engine you might be able to do it, but I believe that would require use of Enterprise Edition.

2019-06-12 12:24:06 GMT <alfresco-discord> <plus-> thanks for the extensive answer Axel

2019-06-12 12:25:02 GMT <AFaust> But honestly, I also doubt it would work with those SQL capabilities, since the link between "person" and "content" is very flimsy. There is no real association with the creator / owner / modifier, only a weak "match by user name" semantic. So even a relational view like SQL might have issues dealing with this link.

2019-06-12 12:39:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Anybody has a feedback on my question regarding the single VMDK to attach to all nodes of an Alfresco Cluster for the content store?

2019-06-12 12:55:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> @plus- maybe a solution would be that on content creation you also add a new property "lastname" 😉

2019-06-12 13:23:17 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MariusGrunenberg> The List-Favorites REST endpoint doesn't support aspectNames? https://api-explorer.alfresco.com/api-explorer/#!/favorites/listFavorites

2019-06-12 13:23:19 GMT <alfbot> Title:Alfresco Content Services REST API Explorer (at api-explorer.alfresco.com)

2019-06-12 13:25:48 GMT <alfresco-discord> <binduwavell> @MorganP Maybe just run an NFS server on another server and serve disk to the cluster nodes?

2019-06-12 13:30:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <plus-> @dgradecak yes 😃 but's it's some legacy stuff I don't want to patch

2019-06-12 13:31:49 GMT <angelborroy> I’ve been working (internally) on a Yeoman generator for Docker Compose templates

2019-06-12 13:32:17 GMT <angelborroy> Using this tool we can generate compositions with HTTP, HTTPs, clustering, enterprise, community…

2019-06-12 13:32:38 GMT <angelborroy> I wonder is a similar approach to generate Docker Compose templates form Community is worthy

2019-06-12 13:33:10 GMT <angelborroy> I mean, the user can choose Postgresql / MariaDB, API Explorer…

2019-06-12 13:33:14 GMT <angelborroy> And that kind of things

2019-06-12 13:33:21 GMT <angelborroy> And a Docker Compose is generated

2019-06-12 13:33:25 GMT <angelborroy> What do you think?

2019-06-12 13:59:12 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> @binduwavell Yes that's something I proposed but it adds some other complexity and the customer was a little bit reluctant... So I was wondering if the same VMDK can work. Maybe that's utopic...

2019-06-12 15:09:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @angel.borroy We are working on layered docker-compose files

2019-06-12 15:10:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> with docker compose, you can specify multiple files

2019-06-12 15:10:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> and you can choose a db by including another file

2019-06-12 15:10:57 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> That works if you have a limited amount of configuration options

2019-06-12 15:11:14 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> This was our previous approach

2019-06-12 15:11:42 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> But currently we have more than 20 possibilities for search services

2019-06-12 15:12:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> That makes easier to use something like Yeoman templates

2019-06-12 15:13:22 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> Creating a generic configurator for Community, probably will include also a high number of alternatives

2019-06-12 15:16:14 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> it does sound interesting

2019-06-12 15:16:53 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @Toon Geens has been working on a spring boot starter based generator for Alfresco projects

2019-06-12 15:17:13 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> but up until now, I think it only adds a very basic docker-compose
