2019-08-23 10:57:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> Thanks @Thijs , I added your HTTP Port configuration to Alfresco Docker Installer
2019-08-23 10:57:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <angel.borroy> Still considering how to fix the Postgres log folder issue
2019-08-23 11:22:14 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @angel.borroy great
2019-08-23 11:23:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @angel.borroy You don't have to fix that for me. I just shared my experiences when I tried it out.
2019-08-23 11:24:53 GMT <angelborroy> You are a real user, with a real problem
2019-08-23 11:25:03 GMT <angelborroy> Always worth it to have a look ;-)
2019-08-23 11:27:09 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> hey @Thijs I have been trying the alfresco-zipkin project, (./gradlew cU) on the project from github, and I got it to work but I couldn't get zipkin to show any trace using the default config. I was wondering if there were any flags or config or header that needed to be enabled in order for the tracing to happen before I go ahead and hook my debugger in 🙂
2019-08-23 11:29:37 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @yreg Thanks for trying out. I think @driesdp should be able to help you with that. I don't know if the project is already in a mature state, since we've done no releases yet.
2019-08-23 11:30:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> That would explain the snapshot version, thanks! I will follow up with Dries
2019-08-23 11:43:13 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> Hey @yreg Seems like I didn't put this in the readme yet. You can turn on the tracing with the following properties in alfresco-global.properties: zipkin.service.alfresco.sampler.rate=1.0 zipkin.service.solr.sampler.rate=1.0 zipkin.service.share.sampler.rate=1.0 for example in your docker-compose setup, you can add lines like these: JAVA_OPTS=-Dzipkin.service.alfresco.sampler.rate=1.0
2019-08-23 11:44:47 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> Hey @yreg It seems like I forgot do document this in the README!
2019-08-23 11:45:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> There are flags indeed, in alfresco-global.properties
2019-08-23 11:46:00 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> zipkin.service.alfresco.sampler.rate=0.0 zipkin.service.solr.sampler.rate=0.0 zipkin.service.share.sampler.rate=0.0 If you set these to 1.0, all requests will be traced
2019-08-23 11:46:03 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Oh that would explain a lot indeed !! I also get the feeling spy.properties doesn't end up in the war due to a missing mapping or something (filemapping.properties inside the amp is empty)
2019-08-23 11:47:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> thanks Dries, will give it a try
2019-08-23 11:47:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> Thanks for the tip, that might very well be the case, I saw in a Jenkins build that the db wasn't traced in an integration test. I'll look in to that spy.properties beginning of next week 🙂
2019-08-23 11:48:30 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> 👍
2019-08-23 11:50:25 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> Considering the flags I probably forgot them because a lot of us use the zipkin browser plugin here that just injects the headers on the browser level, useful in development. Hence we never really use the alfresco-global.properties to enable tracing. So thanks for pointing this out!
2019-08-23 11:52:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> thanks, I wasn't aware of that plugin, I also would rather only trace specific calls, so I will probably forget about the global props and use the browser plugin instead (maybe worth documenting as well)
2019-08-23 12:01:41 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Thanks @driesdp
2019-08-23 12:02:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> the browser extension works like a charm, and I do have the DB spans as well for the ./gradlew cU on the IT project
2019-08-23 12:03:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <driesdp> great to hear 🙂
2019-08-23 12:08:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> Ok, spy.properties is actually included inside the jar, and duplicated inside the amp
2019-08-23 12:08:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> the one inside the amp gets ignored while applying the amp due to the missing filemapping
2019-08-23 12:16:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @yreg Could you make a ticket for that please?
2019-08-23 13:15:08 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @yreg thanks
