Daily Log for #alfresco

2020-03-03 07:53:48 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> @EddieMay Where can we request to postpone DevCon to September/October?

2020-03-03 07:56:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> @bhagyas Why September/October?

2020-03-03 07:58:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> @mbui Feels like better to wait it out, most organisations have completely stopped non-essential travel and conferences right now. If most people are not showing up, it wouldn't be worth it to be there or to sponsor. We are re-considering our visit as well.

2020-03-03 08:00:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> (Also the fact that I need to apply for UK visa 3 months ahead)

2020-03-03 08:05:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> 3 months ahead? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ that's ridiculous. Maybe there's a way for Alfresco to assist in this? Changing the date for DevCon would suck a lot for us since we've already booked flight tickets and hotel.

2020-03-03 08:06:08 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> hey @bhagyas presumably you have to get a visa 3 months ahead anyway, as nothing here has changed until the end of the year

2020-03-03 08:06:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> 3 months for UK visa is nothing compared to my current waiting time for Swedish citizenship of 33 months

2020-03-03 08:06:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> xD

2020-03-03 08:07:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Already waited 9 months

2020-03-03 08:07:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> hehehehe

2020-03-03 08:08:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> You get to wait 5 years for being eligible, not to be confused with the application processing time

2020-03-03 08:09:23 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> so 5 years, before the 33 months, wow yes that is slow

2020-03-03 08:10:14 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> the waiting time used to be 3 weeks max around 3 years ago

2020-03-03 08:10:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> over here they are talking about this australia style points scheme, but in aus they brought in the 457 visa to get around it, couldnt make this stuff up

2020-03-03 08:10:41 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Being Sri Lankan - I like the Australian migration methods

2020-03-03 08:11:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> It favours the English speaking educated and skilled ;p

2020-03-03 08:16:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> Anyways, on the DevCon - I hope it gets delayed

2020-03-03 08:17:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> I think many smaller companies might make it, but larger orgs are doubtful (as current state)

2020-03-03 08:22:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> maybe, although the risk for some will be being quarantined either on their return or before they can get back on a plane, i think thats the biggest risk for anyone travelling at the moment as you just have no idea if someone also travelling starts coughing/sneezing

2020-03-03 08:23:06 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Loftux> @bhagyas One does not simply walk into Swedish Citizenship. Its bureaucracy gates are guarded by more than just Migration Authority agent. There is administration there that does not sleep, and the Director-General is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with binders and papers, the very air you breathe is there to delay any application. Not with ten thousand reason could you speed this up.

2020-03-03 08:23:07 GMT <alfresco-discord> It is folly.

2020-03-03 08:23:46 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> Or just travel with precaution

2020-03-03 08:23:47 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/451644531323174914/684315068812623892/article-2307713-193E4E9B000005DC-456_634x632.jpg

2020-03-03 08:23:51 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> hehe

2020-03-03 08:23:54 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MartinM> Hello :). I remember something that alfresco-mm-1.1.0 and alfresco-rm-enterprise-2.7.2 might have a compatibility problem. But I can't find in Alfresco JIRA the MNT

2020-03-03 08:24:27 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> ๐Ÿ˜„

2020-03-03 08:25:50 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> @mbui When I flew back on Feb 1st, I wore a mask all the way to the apartment :p

2020-03-03 08:26:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> of course realising that unless the mask is certified to FFP3 standard, it has no effect on a virus

2020-03-03 08:26:46 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mbui> What kind of mask? I heard only FFP2-FFP3 standard is good enough

2020-03-03 08:27:03 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> and actually can harbour more germs if its moist

2020-03-03 08:27:29 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> I got one from my doctor friends

2020-03-03 08:27:43 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> a few

2020-03-03 08:28:16 GMT <alfresco-discord> <digcat> check the ratings on them, else its a waste of effort

2020-03-03 08:28:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> The idea is that masks are quite ineffective unless you are the one who coughs

2020-03-03 08:28:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> ๐Ÿ˜„

2020-03-03 08:30:03 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> the key is to avoid contamination by touch I guess

2020-03-03 08:30:20 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> and since most people tend to touch their faces even unknowingly, the masks can be somewhat better than no mask

2020-03-03 08:30:21 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> .

2020-03-03 09:19:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <EddieMay> @bhagyas Weโ€™re going ahead as planned, weโ€™re monitoring the situation closely and youโ€™ll be the first ones to know if anything changes.

2020-03-03 09:21:42 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> @bhagyas Can you update the labels here in Discord? @MartinM recently left Alfresco so he's no longer an employee ๐Ÿ™‚

2020-03-03 09:22:14 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MartinM> true ๐Ÿ‘

2020-03-03 09:22:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <ohej> Don't worry @MartinM, we still love you ๐Ÿ™‚

2020-03-03 09:58:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> @here Is there any discord emojis you recommend having on this server?

2020-03-03 09:58:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> like :java:

2020-03-03 10:04:59 GMT <alfresco-discord> <bhagyas> We should really have a AFaust emoji here, hope he will be okay with it :p

2020-03-03 10:48:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> ADF ACA is still with angular 7?

2020-03-03 10:56:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> Hi everyone ๐Ÿ™‚ we are recently having an issue where our test environment's servers are joining the production cluster after we restored them from a production backup. Did this ever happened to anyone or does anyone have any idea about why this might happen?

2020-03-03 11:08:11 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> @mmazzola that happens when you do exactly that ๐Ÿ˜‰ if you are on the same network, both environment will be automatically configured in a cluster, even if it is a different db isntance but actually it has the same data

2020-03-03 11:08:19 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> sure we talk about enterprise

2020-03-03 11:11:36 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> Yeah it's enterprise. Isn't there a way to prevent that so that we could have a test environment with the data from production but that doesn't join the cluster?

2020-03-03 11:12:55 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> if in EU, check GDPR if you are allowed to do that ๐Ÿ˜‰

2020-03-03 11:13:31 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> otherwise, manage your hazelcast cluster manually or put test and prod on different networks

2020-03-03 11:14:34 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> Unfortunately we can't really network isolate easily. Can you please explain what you mean by manage the hazelcast cluster manually?

2020-03-03 11:20:04 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> We have tried to set different properties like hazelcast.port or hazelcast.password but it didn't do much :/

2020-03-03 11:20:21 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> alfresco uses haelcast for clustering and by default it will get the DB information to build the cluster

2020-03-03 11:22:00 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> https://docs.alfresco.com/6.2/tasks/adminconsole-reposerverclustering.html

2020-03-03 11:22:01 GMT <alfbot> Title:Managing members of a cluster | Alfresco Documentation (at docs.alfresco.com)

2020-03-03 11:22:19 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> Servers connected to the same database instance are usually clustered automatically. In most cases no additional configuration is necessary.

2020-03-03 11:22:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> the issue is that you have exactly the same data in your test DB

2020-03-03 11:24:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> The instance won't be the same though, so ideally if there's just some data to change or remove to reset the clustering it would be possible to do it. We just don't know what is driving that. What is the data that makes this happen.

2020-03-03 11:32:40 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Put password protection to ensure it's a different one

2020-03-03 11:33:35 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> I this can help you: https://blog.dbi-services.com/alfresco-clustering-repository/

2020-03-03 11:34:44 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Restrict IPs, change ports, change passwords can help

2020-03-03 11:37:42 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> Thanks @MorganP ! We did try to add a password to test and to set its port to a different one but it was still trying to join. The only other thing to try would be to also add a different password to the production one. IP ranges don't really work for us ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

2020-03-03 11:41:38 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Well the IPs are only for the local bind, it doesn't dictate where the other nodes are. But as far as I know, changing the passwords should normally work... Unless there is a copy put on the DB maybe? I don't know that

2020-03-03 11:43:01 GMT <alfresco-discord> <mmazzola> There was no password set when then db was copied over so it shouldn't have it there. I guess if there's no other suitable solution we'll try to see if the passwords do the job.

2020-03-03 11:43:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Ah ok then yeah if your PROD one doesn't have a password, it is possible that it will join it automatically...

2020-03-03 11:44:10 GMT <alfresco-discord> <MorganP> Try to put passwords on both of them

2020-03-03 11:44:57 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> anyone from VenziaIT here? or someone useing their AQUA adf?

2020-03-03 12:38:12 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> At Xenit, we've made a page about the products and tools we are publishing and maintaining in open source: https://xenit.eu/open-source/

2020-03-03 12:59:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> comparing wit Telemetry?

2020-03-03 13:00:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @dgradecak I keep an eye on your github page

2020-03-03 13:03:55 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> yep, with telemetry

2020-03-03 13:04:52 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> looks cool

2020-03-03 13:04:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> @Thijs Good job ๐Ÿ‘

2020-03-03 13:05:24 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> btw, I don't know if it is clear, but Telemetry also works on community and enterprise

2020-03-03 13:07:11 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> @yreg I cannot claim the credit for that. Our marketing manager (Dadi) and of course many colleagues did a lot of work.

2020-03-03 13:08:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> I meant to the whole team (Engineering, Daniela, and also the management that gave the green light for the opensourcing process ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

2020-03-03 13:10:32 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> We still have a journey ahead of us. There are other projects in the pipeline.

2020-03-03 13:23:39 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> The metadata-based permissions are not there yet, are they on the roadmap ?

2020-03-03 13:24:56 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> I have green light for open sourcing it, but it's not considered as a priority

2020-03-03 13:25:45 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> Finder (React frontend) for Alfresco is more of a priority

2020-03-03 13:26:28 GMT <alfresco-discord> <yreg> I can see why, that will also be a great asset for the community ...

2020-03-03 13:27:58 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Thijs> We sure hope so.

2020-03-03 13:40:53 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> anyone knows of opensource ADF applications, besides ACA?

2020-03-03 13:42:49 GMT <alfresco-discord> <Douglas Paes (douglascrp)> I am also interested about that

2020-03-03 13:48:54 GMT <angelborroy> Not really

2020-03-03 13:50:26 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> @ohej or @EddieMay maybe?

2020-03-03 14:01:12 GMT <alfresco-discord> <EddieMay> @dgradecak - I don't I'm afraid. Still finding my feet, so not up to speed w/ all the products, etc. Sorry.

2020-03-03 14:01:55 GMT <alfresco-discord> <dgradecak> quite political ๐Ÿ˜‰
